    Time between meals

I've been reading a lot on here the last few days but I'm a little confused on how much time to wait between meals. I read that I should let myself get hungry (something I've never done before) but also to not eat breakfast until lunchtime. Well today, for instance, it's only 10:30 but I'm already pretty hungry. I last ate about 12 hours ago (crackers and cheese). So should I wait another hour and a half when it's lunchtime or do I eat now since I'm getting hunger pains? This is my first day attempting the diet.

    Another question...
I think I read that carbs are good. So would bagels be ok? I normally eat a lot of bagels with peanut butter. I'm going to try and cut way back on the peanut butter just as my own little experiment. I ate a lot of that with all 4 of my boys and also read on the "How we got our boys" thread that a lot of other women ate quite a bit of it when they conceived their boys. But I would like to continue eating bagels, just with different toppings.

Hi there. Not sure how much help I can be but the aim is just to extend time between meals, if you ate 12 hours ago and are hungry now then eat now. I would let myself get good and hungry and then I would just eat regardless of the time. If you are eating breakfast now later than you would have done previously then its all good. Some women don't even skip breakfast at all, you have to do what is best for you and not necessarily what others are doing. I would only eat twice a day but some ladies eat 3 times a day. As for bagels if you really enjoy them then carry on eating them, they are just quite high in protein and they were something I chose to avoid, opting for toast instead. I was a peanut butter fiend before swaying and I completely cut it out of my diet but as you can see from my signature I am pregnant with another boy so there are no magic bullets and I'm sure it wouldn't be detrimental to your sway if you had the occasional bit of peanut butter. Good luck and hopefully others with chime in with their experience and reassurance :-)

There's really no set time to wait between meals just, as Mandy said, wait until you're hungry so you're not snacking which helps keep blood sugar low. If it's 10:30 and you're hungry then eat. What you're looking to do is have a long gap between meals overnight (roughly 12-16 hours) and no snacking. So you could have 2 or 3 meals a day, whatever works for you. I typically have 2 meals a day but if I happen to have calories leftover, then I'll eat a small third meal a few hours after dinner (it's usually wine though lol). Bagels are fine to eat and I think peanut butter is too, it's just it's rather fattening so you use up quite a bit of fat in one serving. FWIW my mom is a big peanut butter lover and still got a girl eating it. It's your diet overall that matters, not one thing in particular. Good luck with swaying!

Ohh I never thought to check the protein, I just know they are high in carbs so I was going off of that. I'll avoid them then, or at least not eat them everyday.
And thanks ksmom, 12-16 hours is a good frame to keep in my head. I was really unsure on that part. I have a bad habit of snacking all day and at night and it's something I've wanted to change for a while (even before I knew anything about swaying). I'm hoping that the possibility of having a girl will motivate me to stop
I've actually been eating breakfast later than usual most days now anyway. My second started school in September so I just find that by the time I get them all ready and off to school, then feed the two younger boys, it's 10am before I get a chance to eat. I used to eat as soon as I woke up or not long after, by 8am at the very latest. So that's good to know!
Reading everything has made me realize that I have a very boy-friendly diet (it's no wonder I haven't had a girl yet!), so I'm hoping that making some changes in that respect will help me.

The diet does get easier the longer you do it and it becomes second nature. Skipping breakfast and not snacking was torturous for me in the beginning but after doing the diet for 8 months, it's my normal. It's a massive change for most of us boy moms but it gets to the point where you don't even have to think about it so much anymore.

I've been doing midday and about 7pm for my meals but I have 2 coffees in the morning because frankly I'd be suicidal otherwise lol

I've been drinking a couple of black coffees in the morning, and then having 'lunch' (which is sometimes white toast with a little bit of low fat margarine and strawberry jam!) at around 11 - 11.30. I am hoping this is late enough. I try and stretch it until twelve but usually it's more like 11! Then I eat with my sons at around 5pm and try not to have anything else until the next day. Hope that helps. BTW I use My Fitness Pal to track kcal / protein / fat levels which i find really helpful.

You need to do what works for YOU first and foremost. If you're hungry at 10:30, EAT. There is no magic time or length of time to aim for, you're just trying to do different than what you were doing when you got your boys. Waiting around in a cold sweat starving, is not going to help you stick to the diet overall and that is what matters.

Some days I made it to 12, other days I made it only till 10 or 10:30. Flexibility and listening to your body will really help you in the long run to stick with the diet as a whole.

As long as you don't have PCO or insulin resistance, carbs can help your pink sway. I always ate gobs of peanut butter with my boys. I had bagels when swaying pink too, with cream cheese or American cheese or butter (margarine may be better for pink, but I hate margarine LOL) on a cinnamon raisin bagel. I got my daughter eating bagels a couple times a week.

bagels do have a fair bit of protein in them, personally I had a hard time getting ENOUGH protein so they were a good option for me. You need 40-50 g of protein a day in order to get and stay pregnant so I found them to be a good option for me. Another thing you could do is just eat HALF a bagel if you find they are too heavy on the protein.

totally no magic bullets and peanut butter now and then will not harm a sway.
