Thread: Me again.....

    Me again.....

Hi, it's me again, back and obsessing about my attempts for this BFP. I know it's pointless, I know there's nothing I can do to change it, but I can't help it.
If only I had found Gender Dreaming sooner. But anyway....

As I've since discovered it was better to have only the one attempt and to do it every 4 days, I did it either 4 days before ovulation and 2 days before ovulation. If that was the case would that put me nearer 1 attempt even though I did two attempts a day apart? If the first attempt was 4 days away from ovulation?
On the other hand if I ovulated on my positive Opk day, it would have been 3 days before and 1 day before ovulation which I suppose takes me out of that bracket although hopefully if first attempt was 3 days before that should hopefully have still minimised sperm in overall attempts? Or will the sperm from 3 days before be just as strong as a fresh batch?

I don't really know what I expect anyone to even say to me but it just helps to write it down cuz I can't stop it going round in my brain x

Most, if not all, of the sperm from 4 days before O were probably dead by O day. You most likely got pregnant from the O-2 attempt. So yes, I'd think it's similar to one attempt. Good luck!

Me: 35 years old. Was an infant nanny and birth and postpartum doula. Now a full time SAHM.
DS1: Aug 2003 (my first home birthed water baby!)
DS2: May 2009 (my second home birthed water baby!)
    Oct 2014
July 2016: Laproscopic surgery to remove a ping pong ball sized endometrioma on left ovary and 3 pea size fibroids on outside of uterus. Hysteroscopy to remove one larger "penetrating fibroid" inside uterus.
Oct 2016: Heartbroken after DH's vasectomy. Looks like my dreams of a daughter are gone.

Thanks essnce. What about with 3 days before? Would 3 days before still contain lots of sperm? X

You most likely Oed the day AFTER your first positive OPK.

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

I was hoping that maidenmother, but my cm was milkyish the morning after the positive Opk which I think indicates I already ovulated... That's the only thing that makes me think I ovulated the day of my Opk and not day after xx

CM is NOT a reliable indicator of O. It is VERY common for CM to turn creamy BEFORE O.

Ah ok, everything I seem to have read is that it happens after! Thanks maiden X

Opk was negative when I tested at the same time the day after first positive. Does that mean I ovulated? X

No. How long your OPK stays positive has little to do with when you O.

It IS normal to have creamy CM after O, but that does NOT mean CM can't and doesn't turn creamy before. Estrogen is what causes fertile CM (watery and egg white), and estrogen levels usually peak 1-3 days BEFORE O (and you will have the most fertile CM at this time). So depending on your estrogen level in a certain cycle, your CM can turn creamy sooner or later. Regarding LH surges, they are most often 1-2 days long and O most often happens 24-36 hours after you first start to surge. Next most common is O 2 days after, and it's also possible but less likely for it to occur the same day as your first positive OPK or 3+ days later. Without temps you can only guess, but OPKs are definitely more reliable than CM for determining O.
