My Breastfeeding situation:
I am currently BF my 7.5 month of son. However, I have been offering formula AFTER I nurse him because I have been told by my doctor, and lactation consultant that my supply is dwindling and is not the same as before. My son actually works up a sweat to pull the milk out of my breast so I always offer formula to make sure he is well fed. Some feeds he rejects the bottle, sometimes he will take 3 ounces, some feeds he will take 6 ounces all after I nurse.
My Ovulation Situation:
I JUST got my period for the first time since before I was pregnant on April 9th (when my son turned 7 months old). I have been checking my ovulation using a OPK and April 19th and 20th BOTH came back as High Fertile. SO I naturally expected today April 21st to either be another High Fertile day OR Peak Fertility/Ovulation. BUT the test came back LOW/NOT OVULATING! What the heck is going on?
Question: Am I not ovulating this month? Is my cycle just irregular now? Could High fertility mean ovulation or perhaps my window is extremely short? Im not sure what to make of this.... any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Side Note: I have checked randomly in the previous months to see if I was ovulating using a OPK and I was (Jan 4th and March 27th to be exact... and perhaps more in between but these were the only ones i noticed - it basically just let me know that i AM IN FACT OVULATING! even though I hadn't gotten my period at that point yet). These times I had checked I DID get a PEAK OVULATION

Breastfeeding and Ovulation....

Your body can gear up to O but then decide not to, especially when breastfeeding. When I was nursing DS2, I got a pos. OPK two months before my body finally ovulated! There's really no telling when O will happen for you as hormones tend to be rather wacky when recently having had a baby and breastfeeding.

I retested and I am high fertility again. I guess I have a lot of high fertile days... and the one from this morning was a bum test. Thanks for the reply!

Unwanted and unasked for breastfeeding advice forthcoming.
That is TERRIBLE advice. The solution for a lack of supply is MORE NURSING. It's not using a bottle after nursing.
Sweating while nursing is normal. Just nurse him more if you want to continue breastfeeding because that is simply going to mean you'll make less and less milk.
If you're worried about it, let him nurse as much as he wants, then take a break for a while and then see if he's even sad. If he's peeing and pooping and growing, he's getting enough. If he seems hungry feed him again. No baby is supposed to be stuffed full and since they suck for comfort, he may be eating more than he wants because he likes sucking, not because he's actually even hungry.
You probably are gearing up to O and it's not happening yet. There's nothing wrong with that, it happens fairly regularly. It's not unusual to go back and forth between high and low fertility. Taht is why I like you guys to DTD at peak instead of high.
If you didn't get your period then you didn't ovulate.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

I am sorry I need to much clarification with this.. but Peak IS O day right?
So I'm confused if I should DTD on O day OR O-2?
I was thinking if I did it on O day then (because we are extremely fertile) have DH take care of himself and then DTD right afterwards (or as soon as he can do it again)
Am I on the right track? I don't know why I have such a hard understanding this part.

Breastfeeding and Ovulation....
Peak is BEFORE O day. You will ovulate 12-48 hours AFTER you get your Peak. If you BD when you get your Peak, it will be either O-2 or O-1, depending on when you actually O.
These monitors only detect LH levels, which are released BEFORE ovulation and start to decrease AFTER the egg starts to be released.
You are confusing Peak as ovulation, which it is not. Ovulation, as I've stated happens sometime AFTEF you get your Peak. Ovulation is so hard to actually be detected and pin pointed even when monitored via US.
Hope this clears this up for you.

Wow! All this time I thought Peak and O day were the same thing! So in order to DTD on O-1 or O-2 we must DTD when we get a Peak reading? Or perhaps on the last High Fertile day?

You would DTD when you get your first Peak or High Fertile day. I'm assuming you are using the CBD advanced opks (the ones that have purple on the handles).

Yes! The Clear Blue with the handle yes! And I thought when I got the smiley face that meant I am ovulating but guess I was wrong about that lol. So if we DTD when we get a PEAK reading do we wait until night time (better for sperm count) to DTD? Its just that I take my test in the morning and night time will be 12+ hours from my first peak reading. This then wouldn't be O-2 or O-1.
I am thinking my best bet would be to DTD the night before I know I am going to get a PEAK read. Does this sound right?

DTD either in the morning or at night is fine. Most people DTD at night. I would do whichever is easiest at the moment for you.
GL to you!
