We have 2 boys and I have 2 stepsons and a stepdaughter. DH is the eldest of 3 boys, his father was an only child...... Of his brothers - the youngest has 2 boys. The middle had a son, then lost 2 boys due to a genetic problem and then used IVF to have a girl.
    Step (17)
    Step (15) & (12)
    Our IVF/ICSI twins (6) (OHW)
    Our HT DD (2)

    14Cycle 1 (Dr Lin, CA): ER 14 Jan 2011. 5 eggs, 4 mature and fertilised w/ ICSI. 2 probe. Put back 2 XX's. 5dp5dt - BFP. 9dp5dt - 64. 13dp5dt - 81 Stop meds. 19dp5dt - 330. 22dp5dt - 890. 3 scans show small empty sac not progressing. Final scan before D&C at 7w5d shows HB 116 & a 5.5mm embryo measuring 6w1d. 8w4d - HB 144 & fetus is 11.5mm! 9w4d - no HB.....

    Cycle 2 (Genea): ER 8 July 2011 (after 10 wks on DHEA). 9 eggs, 5 fertilised w/ ICSI, 2 embryo's sent for aCGH day 6 biopsy. 29 July - both normal XX's!!!

    Hi and welcome Queen!!

This is one of those things that I have seen talked about a lot.

Not my husband, but his parents are. My FIL is one of 5 B 1 G and my MIL is one of 3 B 1 G. BUT my husband is one of a pigeon pair, all his cousins were BG pairs, and all his cousins all had BG or all girls. We are the only ones with all boys. I do not believe there is a boy gene or girl gene and there is a very complex scientific reason for this that I won't go into but in addition to that, nothing in my life experience supports the idea that gender runs in families.

I am from a girl heavy family. My grandma was one of 6 girls and 2 boys. They went onto have a pretty even split of boys and girls although some of them had a few more of one gender than another, some boys and some girls. Then my mom and uncles had between them 4 girls and only one boy (my uncles both have stepsons as well) Now in this latest generation, we have produced 7 boys and one girl! And the one girl was to the only boy of the previous generation!

The same thing is true of my neighbors, there are some families with all girls, some with all boys, some with both. I really think it's all about each individual couple and their environment and not to do with genetics much if at all.
