Hi ladies,
I just found out that I'm pregnant this morning and am shocked and trying to cope with itDH and I do Natural Family Planning and it has worked for us through our entire marriage. We had sex cycle day 12 and I didn't get a positive OPK (PEAK - solid smiley) until cycle day 16!!! Which means I probably didn't even ovulate until cycle day 17!! I thought this cutoff was more than enough to not get me pregnant...could it have been possible that I ovulated before the positive Opk?? I'm just trying to make sense of this
I had my heart SET on doing my boy sway in January and have been weight lifting since March and making sure my weight stays up a little and have even been taking a good prenatal and probiotic...but now I'm pregnant and feel that this MUST BE A GIRL! My cycles came back three months ago as I stopped breastfeeding then due to some complications, so I'm hoping my maternal condition was atleast great. I'm also on Thyroid medication for what I think is an overactive thyroid, does that sway at all? Is there anyone who had a cutoff like mine and fell pregnant with a boy?? I swore Atomic said she conceived one of her boys that way, but I can't remember. I'm also upset because DD is only 5 turning 6 months old
I really wanted more time to just focus on HER. And I was excited to put a larger gap in between her and my 4th baby...but now all of that is out the door and I'm still in shock that I'm pregnant. Anyone go through this or who can offer comments? Is there good hope it could be a boy too or will this most likely be a girl? A girl will still be great as I love my DD, but I really did have my heart set on TTC a boy next. Thanks for reading this...any comments would be appreciated.

I suspect you actually ovulated earlier than that and just didn't get the positive until later on.
I got 3 of my 4 boys with cutoffs, 2 of them were probably long cutoffs (I could have Oed early I supposed but I have very regular cycles). My first boy I BD only a couple days after my period ended and then my second boy, we were TTC but my husband changed his mind several days before I was due to O (sorry can't rem. how many days exactly, but I felt I was far from O still) but then I got pregnant anyway. My 3rd boy we BD up until 2-3 days before O and then my husband had to go out of town so unless Gerard Butler emerged from the television to impregnate me somehow he was also a cutoff!
I PROMISE you the studies have been done using modern technology and 50-50 boys and girls were conceived every day of the cycle. The only studies that claimed to prove timing worked used outdated technology (or NO technology at all, just told ladies to BD on a certain day with no confirmation when they even Oed.) Timing does not sway!!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Oh wow that must be a lot to get your head around, particularly when you've had your heart set on things going according to a particular plan.
It's lucky you have already been incorporating some boy friendly strategies like the prenatal, probiotic and weight lifting so they might help tip things in your favour.
Not sure about the thyroid med sorry.

Thanks Atomic. I'm really hoping I am one of those who get a story like yours! I already have close friends telling me that I'm 100% having a girl because I DTD well before my positive OPK, but they believe in timing...and I'm trying hard to let the timing thing go! It just bums me out that I couldn't do my full on sway when I wanted to
And as for you thinking that I actually might've ovulated earlier than I think...I sure hope that's the case! I didn't know you could ovulated BEFORE the positive OPK though? Can that really happen? I thought the LH surge is what made the egg drop? I really have no idea, so I'd love to know!

Thanks Mia! And yes...it's been a shock and a little disheartening as everything I wanted to do swaying wise is no longer an option for me
Praying that some of my boy friendly strategies worked in my favor, but the close spacing really scares me!

I thought I'd pop in to comment, since I went through a similar situation 3 months after having my DD (though that pregnancy ended in a loss at 7 weeks or so).
When you say NFP, are you abstaining completely? Or having some sort of sex during O but maybe pulling out, non-penetrative sex, etc? If you did, you could have had sperm accidentally get you closer to O. I got pregnant THREE separate times in the last year from NFP so clearly my DH and I are awful at it. All losses, but I learned that OPKs and "cautious" husbands aren't gospel
Again, not that timing sways! But just to perhaps give yiu peace of mind.
Hoping for a good outcome for you all around ♡

Aw congratulations and much luck to you Bluebooties! I'm in the same situation. We were trying to AVOID getting pregnant this cycle because I did not want to sway until January/Feb but here I am...with this very surprise BFP. Who knows, maybe we will get our boys despite everything! Fingers crossed for you and hope you get your blue bundle as well!
