Sad Face Progesterone level questions. ??

    Hi all,
So I have been ttc #3 in hopes for a boy as we have two beauty DD. We have been trying since April. We had tests done and all normal except progesterone. My level was 11.4 at 7DPO. My doctor which is on maternity leave has not been able to speak with me about them but did order that I go on Clomid (which I'm terrified about) for the next cycle because that level indicates that I'm not ovulating. My question is that I've done reading and technically that level shows that I did ovulate. Has anyone else had this expierence? What were your levels and did you get pregnant? Why am I not ovulating all of a sudden? Also I know clomid can sway pink which is another reason I'm scared to take it. Please help! TIA

I don't know about your doctor but my RE was fine with my progesterone as long as it was at least 10. I had my levels tested around CD21 and it was maybe around 9? They weren't worried though since I ovulated late. I got pregnant with my sticky baby the following cycle with no meds. A level of 11 sounds like you ovulated to me. Are you sure you were 7dpo? Do you take your bbt or did they do an ultrasound to confirm when O happened?

Also if they do put you on Clomid, being on the HE diet may counteract its pink effects. I'm not sure though. I do know there are definitely boys conceived while on clomid.

    Hi ksmom,
I did OPKs to check when I should ovulate so I went to get my blood checked at what I thought was 7 days after that. I know just cause you get a positive OPK doesn't mean a woman ovulated though. Im glad to find out what your RE told you cause I've been reasearching it and that seems to be what everyone else is saying but not sure what I should do. I obviously want a baby but also not sure if I should go on the clomid or wait. If I wait then I still might not get pregnant and if I don't and take the clomid will I even get pregnant or will I get pregnant even after taking the clomid? It will be 6 months in September that I'm trying. I really don't know what I should do.

We get good results for pink with Clomid but that is with an otherwise good pink sway on top of it. I promise it's entirely possible to get boys on Clomid especially with otherwise strong blue sways. The studies that were done showed Clomid swayed about 3% is all and it's very likely you can boost your results for blue with sway diet and lifestyle changes.

How sure are you that you really did O when you think?? What happens many times is that people go in for a particular blood test and they've shown up on the wrong day so of course their blood test will appear off.

Can you tell me more about why you believe you are ovulating?? Because if you get a regular period every month it is better than 95% you are ovulating. I suspect you are absolutely right, you are ovulating and just had your blood test done on the wrong day which made prog levels seem low.

Do u know how long your luteal phase is - the period of time from ovulation to the start of your period?

I'm not saying "no don't take the Clomid" because it can help with unexplained fertility challenges but I am skeptical you even have low progesterone.

    Hi Atomic,
The only way I can tell that O is approaching is by OPKs and I know it doesn't mean that I O'd but it's all I have. I can not temp because my kids still get up at night and my mornings are crazy. It just doesn't fit into my lifestyle. My cycles are long like 39 days but they always have been. When I had my older DD my Cycle was supposed to be a 42 day cycle but instead I got pregnant with her. I went in for my blood work exactly 7 days after my first smiley and got my period exactly
7 days later. My luteal phase is and always has been 14 days. The only thing that has been consistent since I can remember. The only thing that makes me think I'm not O'ing is that I'm not getting pregnant. I've been swaying for boy and have been doing every other day in fertile window and then three days in a row. Maybe I just need to BD more? I'm just nervous to do that cause with both my girls I BD'd every day in the fertile window and had both my girls. I'm really not sure which direction I should take. September will be 6 months of trying. Took me a year after my MC to have my second DD.

95% of people who are getting AF regularly are ovulating so I suspect you are Oing, just probably did not get the test quite at the right point in time. If you have a 14 day LP the odds are vanishingly slim that you have anything wrong with your progesterone at all!! If you have low progesterone, you will NOT have a 14 day LP!

I don't temp either, I don't think it's necessary. Just trying to figure out if we tested on the right day.

There is a HUGE difference between BD every day, and BD more than you are. Can you please tell me what you ARE doing now trying to conceive?? I can help you change that so it's still blue friendly and NOT limited to one attempt (if you are limiting yourself to Shettles timing for a boy)

Okay. I agree. Thank you. My diet has changed quite a bit to a more HE diet and as far as timing I have basically done every other day in fertile window and then three days in a row. So basically we do frequent release every 2-4 days and then Somehow I have mostly gotten to BD the day before a positive and then we BD the day of the positive and then the next day. But I was thinking maybe we just have to BD more? What do you think?

While I know it feels counterintuitive sometimes the solution is just being patient and not BD more. What happens many times with people is they actually end up BD TOO much and then by the time the egg shows up hubby is shooting nothing but dust!

You are BD what I consider to be an ideal amount BUT let's go ahead and stretch it one more day between the BD (so 2 days between) while still keeping the 3 attempts at pos OPK in addition to that pattern. Then AFTER the 3 attempts, go back to every other day for a few days in case the egg is delayed.

Okay, sounds like a plan. I'm not good at being patient at all though haha but I am willing to give it a shot because I desperately would love a healthy baby boy. Thanks atomic!

The nice thing about swaying blue is everything that sways blue, boosts your chances of conceiving, so swaying and getting pregnant both involve the exact same set of suggestions! Good luck and blue dust!
