any point in replens 3 days after dtd - ovulating now?

Hiya, this month has gone to pot, thought I'd already ovulated but got a stronger positive opk today and egg white cm, run out of replens and opk, thought I'd ovulated so eaten boy friendly stuff so hoping no sperm is waiting, cervix was open yesterday so is there any point in using replens now if I buy some to hopefully fend off any remaining boy sperm? Or will it have left the vagina walls already and waiting for egg where replens won't reach? I've had bad ov pains for a day now and hope it happens today, so much stronger this cycle and more painful. We aren't dtd again but wondering if I should do some replens just incase?

I don't believe there's any point - the sperm would have left the vagina after minutes and certainly won't still be there days later. I also don't believe low pH kills off only boy sperm.

what Zana says - the sperm are mostly gone out of the vagina and into the cervix within 5-15 mins so unless you're attempting again it's pointless

perhaps you could try temping next cycle so you can see when your thermal shift is and know if you have OVed or not?

Ah ok I thought they lived in vagina entrance aswell as cervix, that's handy to know, I am temping now but my temp usually gradually rises after ovulation over the course of a couple of days and this month it was usually 96.7s and then the day after I though I ovulated it rose to 96.9s so thought it would go up higher today but it went back down. Got the strongest positive opk today, darker than the test line, but still feel so tender, bloated and throbbing of ovaries comes and goes. Here's another question: if lh is produced in the early hours and I haven't ovulated by mid-afternoon, is it likely it will stop and re-start after the next lh surge the next am? So could I ovulate over night tonight or will it likely be tomorrow after the next surge?? Thinking ouch again if its tomorrow! And if I've had that strong positive, will I def. Ovulate?

Finally my temp rises!! So ovulation was yesterday cd21 and blimmin painful with it. So the final stats were we dtd thursday night around 10pm and ovulated sunday so dtd 2 to 3 days before ovulation, I think I used replens a couple of hours before ovulation and ph was about 5, jumped and dumped so time will tell!

Sperm can't survive very long at all in the vagina. The semen is like a little life raft for them to survive in until they make it into the safety of the cervix. They go as fast as they can go into the EWCM so they can hide in the places that are safest for them.

The unfortunate thing about OPK is there's no way to know if a pos OPK means you're really going to O or if you had a surge and the egg didn't quite make it out. Regardless of how dark a pos you get. The true test is temps, if your temps go up and stay up for 3 days then you ovulated. Unfortunately there's no way to know beforehand.

I am not following your question, I'm sorry. A surge is a surge, it doesn't start and stop day by day unless you run out of hormones to trigger the egg to release. Then your body just lets the first egg turn to a cyst, other eggs start to race to develop, and your body waits till it can produce more hormone and when it has enough, one-two eggs will eventually be released. It's not like the hormone shuts off and on like a light switch, we're talking about increases and decreases over the course of time.

Thanks Atomic, fab info. Now I know why I have the cyst part of PCOS and that will be from where my body gears up to ovulate at cd 12/14 then stops, and re-starts around cd17.
I just wondered about if my body would stop ovulating over night as all my ov pains tend to start early in the day and stop by bedtime, and I know the LH rise starts in the am so wondered if it stopped at night and that is why I had a few days of positive opks.

Here is my chart so far anyway, and temp is def. higher even at resting in the day.

it's not that the LH surge starts to rise in the morning/stops overnight, it's simply that it's more concentrated in the urine during the later part of the day

ETA - your temps are very erratic and you have a lot of white dots indicating inconsistent temperatures - are you taking them at a different time of the day or have ticked "sleep deprived" or something like that?
