I am just looking through the many notes I have made in preparation for my sway next year and notice that i read somewhere that shorter cycles may result in boys and longer cycles can result in girls. I think it was linked to infertility problems leading to longer cycles etc but i didnt note the source. Anyway, my cycle is consistently 26 days and I tend to ov around day 12. I would like to try and lengthen it if possible. I just wanted to ask 1). Do you think it is a good idea to try and lengthen my cycle (may make everything less predictable as i am like clockwork) 2) any ideas on what i should take to lengthen it?
TIA

I read that study too but I wouldn't worry too much about it - I've read from girl mums on here who had shorter cycles when they conceived. Atomic has said many times that she's seen girls conceived to boy mums who have been complaining about 'wonky' cycles - not necessarily longer but different and unpredictable. I took Vitex and Saw Palmetto and for the first time in my life experienced cycles which weren't regular 27/28 day cycles - one month I would O on cd13, the next cd18, the next cd12 and so on. I do think if your body is doing something different to what it's done in the past then that can be a good sign!

I do want people to know that Tamara believes that long cycles sway BLUE altho we have at least one study (that I am hoping someone with more time than me LOL can find and post, PIA and TIA) sway pink. Just like Zana said, I think it's oddball irregular cycles that sway pink and regular clockwork cycles be they long or short, that sway blue and it's not even that they in and of themselves, sway, it's that they are indicative of hormones that are either less than optimal (wonky) or optimal (regular.) So I can't stress enough that you CAN conceive a girl with perfectly regular cycles and a boy with kooky ones, it's just that these cycles can indicate the status of your hormones, and not vice versa.
Just by going onto a lower calorie diet and losing even a pound or two, you already are doing a lot to lenthen your cycle for at least a couple of months. Weight loss is proven to lenthen your cycle and for some people, it doesn't take much weight to make their body pause to regroup before popping out an eggo.
I found taking vitex THROUGH when I expected to ovulate tended to postpone ovulation but that is not reliable and you should take OPKs to make sure you don't continue taking it post-O (unless you are not trying that month) because vitex is not recommended during the 2 WW. So I would take vitex from AF -O and then just kept taking it on O day and for 1-2 days afterwards (I didn't need to postpone it by much, just trying to get my O to when my DH was home from work haha) I didn't ovulate until AFTER I stopped the vitex, usu. the day I stopped it.!!! I have short cycles (between 25-28 days) and I have GBG.
Atomic, my cycle seems to go in 2 month spurts--2 months in row I will O on a certain day, then the next 2 months it changes. July/Aug it was CD15, Sept/Oct CD13, second October cycle ended up being CD14 (of course this was the time we attempted, and the one day off messed up my planning). Does this one day longer cycle indicated more of a "girl" cycle? Or does a lengthened cycle for pink mean really, really long?

Thanks very much for the fabulous responses. I won't mess too much with what I've got then but keep vitex in mind should the diet not put me off track slightly.

It means substantially longer as in several days to weeks. Everyone's cycle varies by a day or two all the time, that doesn't mean much of anything.
Exception - someone who always has perfect non-varying cycles, it ~may~ be meaningful if their cycle changes by as little as 1-2 days. But for the vast, vast majority of swayers esp. for those who have both genders, a day or two means nothing.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
