    Trying for my girl!!

    Hi!
    I am new to this site but have been lurking for a little while 🙃
    I am 35 years old and trying for #4 😳 I feel a little crazy but also feel like I am not done.
    I have 3 boys, ages 9, 7, 2.5.
    I am praying for a baby girl but also understand hat God may just think me and my hubby are amazing at raising good strong men 😂

    I was on the pill for the past 1.5 years and stopped it on 12/26. My "AF" came back on 12/30. I am using FF to chart but not doing temps. We started cranberry and calcium supps and I am trying to cut back on sodium but I know that is probably too quick to make a difference in my diet for a sway? Literally just started that within the past week.

    In the past we have always "tried" for conception and probably def dtd through O time and many times around it.
    My biggest question right now is WHEN should we do it for the best chance for a girl. I am currently on CD9 (prior to pill I had 31 day cycles with O around cd17.) however my cm is already seeming to get thinner in the past day. We haven't bd in 3 days because I have been trying to lurk and decide on what timing to do!

    This is my last shot! I don't want to go crazy with it and we will only be trying for a few months before throwing in the towel and being happy with the 3 wonderful
    Boys we have.

    Welcome! Most of what you mention are old school sway tactics we've found don't work. I would drop the calcium as it may sway blue and cranberry can actually be dangerous as it thins the blood, plus it doesn't sway. No need to cut back on sodium, just salt your food to taste. Timing doesn't sway either. We've found that having one attempt at first positive OPK sways pink. I don't know how soon you plan to TTC, but 12+ weeks on LE diet is getting great results for pink. LE diet is 1500-1800 calories, 40-50g protein, 30-60g fat, ALL foods are allowed. Alcohol, coffee, fiber, and 60 min cardio 4+ days a week are getting good results too. Clomid and femara are great for pink if you can get them. Coming off birth control seems to sway pink as well. Let us know if you have any questions!

    I know I could drop the supps but I wanted to try them. I felt like maybe it was something I didn't do with my other two. I am trying on my diet but I didn't plan this 12 weeks out (to sway). I would call me a light-Sawyer haha. I am mostly interested in advice on when to dtd?

    Hi and welcome! We do things a little different on this site since many of us, myself included, got boys doing things the old school way.

    The most important thing for you to do here and now is have ONE and only one attempt. For reasons we do not understand we have seen great results with one attempt. If you want to add timing onto that, it's up to you (timing doesn't work and has been debunked) I would get a Clearblue monitor right away and BD at the second "high" reading OR the first "peak" reading. If you prefer to do OPK strips instead you can have that attempt at first positive reading (or when it's pretty dark but not quite positive if you prefer a longer cutoff.

    You can't use what your cycles were before the Pill to tell you when you'll O now, unfortunately.

    Most of us don't do cranberry or calcium or restrict sodium any more but it's your sway your way. Jsut be sure with the cranberry that if you're using it, you stop at ovulation because it may cause or contribute to miscarriage when you take it into pregnancy.

    It's fine if you want to do that, just do know the cranberry can cause a lot of trouble for people which is why we're pretty down on it (and it hasn't worked anyway unfortunately). Just be sure you come off it at ovulation because it can harm a developing pregnancy and if you notice it's thinning your blood (bleeding, bruising, heavy periods) we should have you wean off of it.

    Re the 12 weeks of diet, the thing is for all you know you won't even get pregnant anyway that first month or two. So even though we've seen poor success rates with 2-4 weeks on diet, if you want to try, it's always your call to make, and maybe it will take you 2-3 months to conceive by whih point you'll have that long on diet anyway.     So what "window" do I need to stop BDing in order to make "one attempt" at first pos opk? What I mean is, right now I'm on CD9 (and already starting slight cramping, moodiness and watery cm today) and we want to BD because we haven't in 4 days haha. So can we do it and pull out? Can we do that up until positive opk? Or should I have him hold it until pos opk after today?

    You can always BD and pull out, the only things that seem to count as attempts are actual "completing the transaction" attempts. The one attempt is just one, unprotected attempt with ejac inside during your fertile window of O-3 thru O day.
