For boys we want to increase sperm count and make the environment as sperm friendly as possible, and for girls we want to decrease sperm count and make the environment hostile to sperm but still a little sperm safe.
Does that mean that if you are highly fertile you are bound to have more boys and people with girls are less fertile?

That's the theory. Though we have 3 DD and I tend to think we're highly fertile; 1 was conceived while on BCP's, and the other 2 were 1st month trying. So for us we're either SUPER lucky or highly fertile, but still have DD's.

Yeah I think I am highly fertile aswell my girls have been conceived DTD once thinking we were safe but still got pregnant.
My SIL tried for years and needed clomid twice and ended up with 2 boys.
I guess there is always going to be some people opposite to the theory.

I don't totally get the theory? Why does reducing fertility make more girls?

I know tons of people that struggled with infertility and ended up with boys only. So I don't know about this theory either.

I think the idea was if you have "perfect" cm and ph through your whole body then that alkaline state makes you more fertile, the sperm has an easy road to get to the egg and when it does get to the egg the egg is easily penatrated. If you have a more acidic cm/ph the sperm has a harder road to get to the egg and when it does the egg could be harder to penetrate thus leaving more X to stick around and do the job.It is not really saying that girl moms have a hard time getting pregnant and for those that did have a hard time getting pregnant and got boys well odds are they were doing everything to get pregnant which upps your boy odds anyways.

I believe that is the tendency, yes. I don't believe anyone is BOUND to do anything tho and it is your fertility as a couple that matters. It may be whether your fertility is increasing or declining and there are other factors at play that respond to cues in the environment (like sperm count, CM quality, etc - these things are partly fertility, but of course a couple can overcome one or two "lower fertility" factors with other things. Like good CM can counteract lower sperm count.) And of course LUCK. It can very much be the case when you have 2 children, that your body just happened to be more boy/girl friendly those two months, even if it was set the opposite way every other month of your life.
There are tons of women who get pg easily with girls and others who struggle to conceive and have boys.
It's just a theory, but it's the only one that explains everything.Last edited by atomic sagebrush; November 18th, 2011 at 01:46 PM.

There is a large amount of play in the "reduced fertility" department though. It's TOTALLY possible to get pg the first month trying, but still have lower sperm numbers, dryer CM, lower pH, etc and it's THOSE things that do the swaying.
When I say "fertility" I am just using that as a catchall term for sperm count, CM quality, pH, lower estrogen/testosterone levels, etc. NOT saying that everyone who conceives girls struggle with fertility because they obvioulsy don't. There is a big area of wiggle room (and of course luck has a role to play as well.)!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Everything that makes it harder to get pg sways pink and everythign that makes it easier, sways blue.
Lower sperm count, hostile CM, pH, strange cycles, lowered levels of certain reproductive hormones, etc all lead to more daughters being conceived. We don't know why it is, but it just seems to be that way.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

If you struggle with infertility, you do everything you can to boost that fertility and just by virtue of luck, you might end up getting pg on a month when your body was more blue-friendly as a result.
Plus, consider that the only month they were ABLE to conceive was a month when their fertility was higher than it normally was. Doesn't seem like such a stretch to me, that if increases in fertility (better CM, higher sperm count, etc) sway blue, that these things would make a couple both more likely to conceive and more likely to conceive blue, simultaneously.!!!
