    Ruining sway

    I’ve read the cheat guide and it’s beilliant but I can’t shake the feeling that I’m ruining my sway. Around ovulation and before AF I can’t stop myself bingeing on food. It’s compulsive. Usually I stay in my limits (for fat and protein) so I just forget it, even if I’ve exceeded calories. But yesterday I definitely exceeded my limits. I get quite ill around these times and that drives the compulsive bingeing, my body just cries for sugar to fix feeling so awful. Trying to think of mantras I can tell myself to help me stick to it when I feel like that. I don’t have long to go until first attempt so that’s why I’m feeling so bad about my latest binge.

    Secondly, I’m not finding the LE diet that restrictive. I actually enjoy it. I’m quite small so don’t need many calories anyway. I have lost some weight but not loads and the loss has been pretty steady. This makes me think I’ve got the whole idea wrong and am not doing it right.

    I was very relaxed about all of this a couple of weeks ago and now I’ve got in a bit of a hole. Tell me to get over it :-)

    If I recall correctly atomic says the LE diet is not supposed to be a starvation diet and should be easy to stick to for longer periods of time so it sounds like you have not got it all wrong. I think it is likely your weight loss should be gradual and steady if you are smaller than if you were heavier to begin with and had lots to lose. Just keep doing what you can to stick within the limits when you can and not stress when you don't as the stressing about it is likely to be more detrimental than going over the limits themselves. Keep up the good work

    I'm not an expert, but my advice would be to plan ahead for the times you know will be hard for you. So right around ovulation and AF, make sure you have sugar in the house, but try to keep it to the type of stuff that you won't totally binge on. I know that for myself if I buy individually wrapped things like candy bars, I have a much easier time limiting myself to one (or even two) than if I buy a whole cake or carton of ice cream or box of cookies. This is totally individual, but for me sour Mike and Ike's is something that will satisfy my sugar craving without making me go totally overboard.

    Thanks for your kind words. I realise it might seem a bit contradictory to say on one hand I can’t stick to the diet and on the other i find it too easy! It’s just at certain times of the month I find it really hard because of my compulsive need to eat which I can’t seem to control. At all other times I’m fine. Your comments about the steady weight loss have made me feel a lot better :-)

    The LE Diet is MEANT to be easy to stick to. The people who are constantly miserable on diet are the ones doing it wrong, not you.

    Cheats happen. It doesn't matter where you are in relation to O. If diet a day or two could make any difference we'd only do diet for a day or two.

    Slow steady weight loss is how I want you guys to lose weight. That's what I like to see.

    It is totally normal to have hunger around O/Af and during the luteal phase. It's not anything to beat yourself up over, it's just hormones doing what they do. Best thing is to figure out what it is you really want to eat and have that and then don't give it a second thought.
