So I have had months of high stress, fighting, tension and dealing with sick children and I was wondering whether that swayed in a particular way. I have read on the forums that obsessing over your sway can have a blue sway effect. Is normal stress the same? I have lost weight and generally feel pretty run down because of it, just worried its going to have a negative affect on swaying pink.
Also I wanted to ask if anyone else is having issues with taking folic acid? it seems to be giving me bad belly pains, cramping, diarrhea and just generally feeling unwell in the tummy. How am I supposed to keep taking it if it makes me feel like crap?

The straight truth is that we do not know. Studies have shown that 'stress' like from bad work environments, illness, and similar things may sway pink but then other studies have found more boys are conceived after wars (although there have been other studies such as after earthquakes that indicated more girls conceived) and now there's a theory that shorter term, harsh stress sways pink, longer term chronic stress may sway blue https://academic.oup.com/humrep/article/19/1/218/690115 (but between you and me, I read this as "no one really know for sure")
Long story short, we simply don't know and while people often ask me "does this kind of stress sway pink or blue" I honestly don't know and it may vary by indivicual anyway as everyone reacts to stressful situations differently anyway.
My standard advice when I don't know is to toss the choice back to you with the caveat, "if you'll live 1000 lifetimes of regret if you TTC and it's a boy, then wait when in any doubt. But do be aware that for all u know you'll be passing up a great month to TTC a girl and all subsequent months will be worse!"
I have had a few people report to me the folic was not kind to their tummy. You may want to try folate instead and then if that doesn't go down well either, try taking less per day and even weaning off it totally but being careful to eat plenty of vegetables since veg do have quite a lot of folate in them naturally. (although too many veg are also harsh on the tummy!)Last edited by atomic sagebrush; June 1st, 2018 at 02:49 PM.

I had several months of minute long daily stress (I had to walk past a drunk derelict who threatened to hit people who walked by him) when I conceived my daughter. Other than that I was low stress, but it was like a minute of heart racing fear on an almost daily basis. Luckily after I got pregnant he left/was taken away.

yea you are right atomic, there is just too much unknown to possibly make an educated choice either way, I will just keep plodding along with my sway and TTC when I originally planned to.
Ok, well do you know of any brand of folate that is actually folate? because I have looked at so many pills and it says folate but then in small writing it will state "in the form of folic acid".... so its not folate, its folic acid...

Ugh that's frustrating...it is literally impossible for me to stay up to date on brands around the world...they are oftentimes even changing their products on me and it's just not possible for me to accurately recommend them. You may want to order online because you'll be able to check them out more thoroughly.
