I had my anatomy U/S at exactly 20wks pregnant, the baby was being very awkward and i was asked to move onto my side and then back, then onto my other side etc so th e sonographer could get all the appropriate measurements, she didnt look for the gender until she had everything she needed, then brought my husband in to see the baby and tell us the gender. She seemed very reluctant to tell us and asked several times if we were positive we wanted to know. Anyway, she tried to have a look between the legs but babys legs were closed, not crossed but you couldnt see inbetween them..........anyway she moved further back to try and look from almost behind and up to see if there was anything dangling i suppose, and still couldnt see, so she then moved round to the front of the baby, asked again if we were sure, (babys legs were still closed and sort of pulled up a it) she then pointed out what she said was the gender and said there wasnt much chance of a mistake. But im not convinced, i didnt see anything that resembled either gender really. So my question is, is it possible to determine gender from the front? Unfortunately i dont have any pics of that part of the scan. I am going for a private 3d scan just so i can see the baby again but thats not for almost 10weeks......I will ask at that scan too what that sonographer thinks but i just need to know if my last scan could have been right? Any help much appreciated![]()

When I had my elective gender scan done at 16 weeks, the tech told me that she saw the gender the very first moment she put the wand on my belly but she didn't tell me until after she had looked at the heart, measured the baby, etc. to build up suspense I suppose. She knew right away though. If she did get a good look at the beginning, maybe she was just trying to get another for you guys but she did know for sure from what she saw at the beginning. It was very fast too because I thought I saw something but it was just a second on the scan when she saw mine.
The skull on your NT scan looked like a girl...I don't understand the mistake part....did you find out what you are having? The last post I see was from your NT scan and there is no nub on that.

Sorry, seems like i must have leant on the mouse pad on my laptop and deleted part of that sentence, ive edited it now so it reads right lol! She did say what she thought baby was but I really couldnt see anything! i could see babys legs and everything else, just nothing in the right area......and the rest of the picture was super clear, ive never had such a clear scan in my life, it was amazing! I just couldnt see gender at all.......its only upsetting me as i dont feel like i know for sure when i havent actually seen the evidence for myself if you know what i mean. I just never knew you could determine a babys gender from frontal view alone. It was the only view the sonographer had too as she said she hadnt looked at the gender until my husband was allowed in the room.May 05

I think if a tech sees what they need at any angle at 20 weeks and they know what they are doing they can tell. That's their job- to be able to know what they are looking at.
