    Self-made ultrasound at 16 weeks!

Hi, I am a pediatrician and did try to do an ultrasound on myself (with some watching colleagues) at 15+4 weeks for a potty shot of our third baby.
We already have a daughter and son, initially wanting to sway for a girl as our son has autism... but as we love our surprise baby we are really excited to find out what it is!
As we normally use the ultrasound differently I am not experienced with fetusses! Now we have three opinions- I thought the thing between the legs was the cord- one colleague said it SO looked like a penis with scrotum in the one pic (she has a point), two others said "not enough evidence" to decide ;-)

What do you think? We have no nub shot from our (expert) scan at 12+4, only this potty shot. Name: Bildschirmfoto 2019-04-10 um 09.27.25.jpg

Nub shots at 12 weeks and sadly even into 16 week range are not as reliable as we would like.

My guess is girl and I think the "penis-y" thing is cord as it's way too long to be a penis. BUT the next to the last pic is a little iffy for me, could indeed be penis - just depends on where the wand was focused. I'm sorry I can't be more help, it's just that the 12 week for sure, and even the 16 week potty shots can be confusing and I don't like giving incorrect replies when I'm anything than 100% sure.

I hope you get what you're wishing for!

The first pic had me thinking girl but middle pic (second from bottom) makes me think boy. Scan again but put a small box of color on to rule out cord vs. penis. If it's cord it will light up from bloodflow.

    Update 18 weeks!

Thank you so much for your guesses!
2blue1pink: I too thought about putting a color box on it- but in the end did not like the high energy doppler just to guess..
I did another quick scan at 17+3 weeks a few days ago and could not see any boy parts- even found three white lines in one shot! So I thought 99% girl, we´re so excited!
