Right now I know four people who are pregnant and due this summer out of the 4 of them 3 of them are having girls. And I was just on a due date board and most of them were having girls. When I was pregnant with DS2 everyone around me was having boys. Now I am scared if I wait til this fall to TTC I will fall in another "boy year". It really scares the crap out of me.![]()

I hope your "girl year" doesn't extend to me! Most people I know right now (aside from one who doesn't know and one who is having a girl) are having boys. I was hoping to be a part of the "boy year" here! I was definitely stuck in a "girl year" the two times I had DDs--almost everyone at those times had girls. When I had my DS it was about 50/50.

Sometimes, I think it does... with my first boy, lots of people around me were having boys, but when I had ds2 SO many people I knew were having girls (which definitely did not help with my gd at the time...). With DD it was a mixture, 50/50.

I have no idea, but it does seem like it goes in waves doesn't it?
There is a website that was recommended to me by someone on another board. It is called fortunebaby.com. It is a gender predictor and has a money back guarantee if it is wrong. She said that she and twelve of her friends/family had tried it and it was right for all of them so I figured what the heck, I will give it a try. So when I got my results, it says that if I conceive during ANY month in the year 2012 then I will have a girl. Gosh, I'm REALLY hoping it is right and that this is indeed my girl year! If it ends up being wrong, at least I'll get my money back, but I sure hope it's right.

NO and if there were, science would have noted and remarked upon it. It's just a coincidence. Even when patterns are known to be totally random, there are clusters that form sometimes (if everything was perfectly, evenly spaced, then the pattern is no longer random, if that makes any sense).

TBH I used to think that there was definite 'boy years' and 'girl years'.... around the time DS was born there were a number of our friends who were also due- every single one of them had a boy (which for the record was great as DS has plenty of friends his own age, will be great for sports etc down the track when they are all a bit older).
When I got to know more about swaying I started to look at the similiarities between all of us that went on to have boys in that year..... all of the Dad's know each other from playing sport over the years (which now they no longer play).... they are all quite the big meat/ protein eaters etc and a lot of them drink beer regularly (my DH not so much though). Around the time we all conceived there were a lot of people talking about things like ensuring the Mum took pre-natal vitamins and Dad took zinc. It seemed to be the 'in' thing to do at the time.
So, on more reflection I think whilst it may look that way with girl years and boy years, I think there is more to it than that and that if you had a look at people's diets etc around the time of conception you would probably see a lot of similarities!
Best of luck with your sway xx2012 is going to be a GREAT year
