    The calcium question

I've really been going back on forth about adding calcium to my sway and after doing a lot of reading on this site I've decided not to include it. I've always been deficient in calcium and looking back I realised that I was ALWAYs making sure I had enough calcium in my body. In fact, just like the theory on girls needing less nutrition, I can see now that I was eating way too healthy to have lessened my chance for having boys instead of girl. I'm so glad I found this site and learned a way that made more sense than some of the things over at IG. I'm going all the way with this sway and leaving out cranberry and calcium. Anyone else had a tough time deciding about adding calcium or not?

I had a tough time deciding, but like you said, when I look back at my diet when I TTC my first two pregnancies (both boys), I was eating a lot of cheese, yogurt and milk, PLUS prenatals, so I know I was getting plenty of calcium. This time I'm not eating any of that stuff and nixing the prenatals, I think it is important for my sway. Good luck.

I still haven't fully decided... I know the studies that showed a link with it were in rodents, but I have also read about taking calcium to help with a hormonal imbalance too. I haven't looked enough into the latter to know if I should take it or not. If the reason they say to take it is to counteract side effects of the hormone imbalance or to help the imbalance itself.

I didn't take it last sway.

Thanks for replying ladies. At this point I'm sticking with just getting my calcium from the foods I eat on the LE diet. I don't see the point in straying from the idea of LE by adding more nutrients and looking back from the rural village I come from, I know most of the people had limited sources of calcium, definitely no fresh milk, and there were still lots of girls being born.

When I was swaying for DS 4 I felt in my gut that cal-mag just couldn't work because I've always eaten tons of dairy and had got 3 boys doing it. but I was so scared that I left it in anyway. Once you get a boy taking 1200 mg calcium, it gets easier to believe it doesn't sway pink haha!!! Got my girl with both DH and I eating hardly any dairy compared to what we normally did.

thank you so much for letting us know about that! 75% of adult women are lactose intolerant and not drinking ANY milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. and yet still getting plenty of girls.

Yep, it's very true. I'm from a small town in the Caribbean and the grocery stores are usually at least an hour away from where most people lived, so in the hot sun travelling with fresh milk so far didn't make sense. Most people I know have never even tasted fresh milk. The main source would have to be things like ice cream and cheese and even that was a luxury. Still grew up around lots of girls though. When I spoke with my mom about the calcium issue, she said she only had the powdered skim milk to use during her pregnancy.

I'm not sure what the point would be, because the only reason that magnesium is used for pink sways is to make calcium more effective. I wouldn't take it unless I needed extra for health.
