Two areas of concern-MTHFR and low ionic strength- HELP!

A little background- I have a 3 year old daughter, I had preeclampsia with her and she was an emergency csection at 34 weeks. This summer I lost a baby at 16 weeks and had to have a d&e. we did all the testing and the only thing that came back is a heterozygous mthfr mutation (c677t.). I'm hoping to ttc in December, and have a few questions.

    1. These are the meds/vitamins I've been put on: Metanx(folate,b6&b12,) baby aspirin, NeevoDHA prenatal (http://m.neevodha.com/images/nutrition.png) two thyroid meds (hypo) and labatelol(blood pressure.) I plan to take Mucinex, the Metanx dried up my cm. I also have D and Potassium supps. I drink green tea with stevia and lemon water.

Advice on how good of a sway I can do while on the prescribed meds? I obviously need to aim for a healthy pregnancy first, but I'm unsure of how strong I can sway with those elements.

    2. I bought ph strips before we knew of any complications I would have. They never change color. I was told this is due to low ionic strength resulting from a CA and MG imbalance. My question is- how do you fix that imbalance? If CA and MG sway girl what does that mean for my sway? I understand I can get digital testers, but I'm confused by the mechanics of low ionic strength.

I appreciate any help. I've stressed myself out over this new diagnosis and risk factors of that mutation and autism, and I'm looking to be as safe as possible while wishing for a little boy

SO sorry for your loss...I lost bub last month at 12 weeks and it is SO hard. Hugs.

We're not too sure that calcium and magnesium sway at all...in fact I was drinking full fat dairy and eating piles of cheese when I got my boy. Prenatals are great for a boy sway. I don't think the thyroid meds will affect your sway...but you should be making sure to get lots of folic acid, and weaning down to the amount in your prenatals after your BFP. And you should really have a look at the HE diet for a boy sway. GL!

So sorry for your loss this summer. That had to be so hard.

I am not an expert, just a frantic swayer trying for a boy too. I wish I could help with the meds but I can't.

Thank you so much for posting the pH strip info. I have been trying to use them on myself for weeks and they never change color!!! Now I understand! I will have to look into that more. I know my calcium was low because I was avoiding it on the original swaying diet I was on. I started loosing a lot of hair, (off my head) when I wasn't getting calcium; I think I was mal-nourished, but then I switched more to the HE diet and I am much better.
Now it all makes more sense!

As for Calcium swaying girl - you need some when swaying blue. Cutting back on the amount I usually eat was very different from cutting it out completely. Our bodies need the basic nutrients to function, let alone make a baby so you do need some calcium in your diet no matter what you are swaying.

Good luck on your sway!! Here's to blue for you and me!!

I completely understand about needing calcium, but I'm confused about what causes this low ionic state?

Thank you all for your help. Losing the baby has gutted me. I am so hurt and I try to be "normal" but it is so hard.

If any one knows I would be so grateful to hear!! I have no idea but I am super frustrated because pH strips don't work for me as well as opk, and many times pregnancy test didn't work either when I was pregnant with DD2 and DD3.

Having another baby will heal your heart. These are some amazing time so I have lots of hope for you!!

MTHFR is one of the most common reasons for late losses like that. I'm so very sorry.

1)All those supplements will sway blue with the exception of the aspirin which you MUST TAKE exactly as per your doctor's orders. Not open for debate, you need that to preserve your future pregnancies. I think aspirin sways only very slightly at best and I would not give it a second thought - several ladies including Tamara and mydreamteam conceived boys while taking the aspirin. i don't know how the thyroid and BP meds sway but it's irrelevant anyway because you need them for your health.

2)You DON'T fix that imbalance. The whole "ionic strength" stuff is something we do not worry about on this site. Most of us do not even check pH. Your body keeps levels of cal, mag, sodium and pot all within very tightly regulated levels and these levels do not vary unless you are extremely ill.

Many people are no longer convinced that cal-mag even do sway pink. We've been getting good results having blue swayers eating dairy, and pink swayers not eating dairy (often after several failed sways where people were doing the exact opposite.) I would not give the "ionic strength" business another thought.

It's not a "state", if you did not have the proper level of ions in your blood******, you would be extremely ill or keel over dead. All it means is that the ions in your cervical mucus are too diluted to be able to be measured. This has happened to both pink and blue swayers and I would not give it another thought.

Hi adoptamom, a friend of mine lost a baby at 27 weeks last year with pre-eclampsia with help syndrome. A lot of the meds you mentioned there I know she was taking. Last week she had a healthy baby boy at 36 weeks. I should also add that before she conceived this baby she had a very boy friendly diet and was swimming 3 times per week
