No, the baby can move all over the place. 1 of my boys was always on the left and my girl was always on the right.

12 weeks is too late for the "side" theory about the placenta to work anyway.

Babies like to move around. And depending on where your placenta is (anterior will make it so you can't hear baby when it is behind it), can depend on where you pick up the heartbeat. I think each baby will have its own niche spot, where it is comfortable, but I really don't think it is gender-related.

My oldest boy hung more left, I found his HB around mid-belly on the left, even late in pregnancy.

My second hung high and right. I found it around my belly button, slightly right, at 12 weeks. I don't remember if he stayed there, but that is where I found it.

This unknown gender baby is actually pretty central...VERY low (like an inch above my hairline) and pretty central, sometimes a bit right, sometimes a bit left. But on sonogram, my placenta is central anterior and slightly leaning left, so baby has to be a little right to be out from behind it. So I find it more frequently slightly right.

We may be done, we may come back for one more sway. Time will tell. At the moment, we are very content with our family!

^^Lol. I have heard that too...but all three of my pregnancies have had anterior placentas. My first was high and anterior, my second was central and this one is too. Even the tech mentioned it was pretty rare to have three in a row! Must have something to do with my body shape. But I am just hoping one out of the three is a girl! Lol.
