Lowering Sperm Count (older couple) ??

I'm really confused as to what to do, to lower sperm count??? And why does lowering sperm count, sway pink??? Is it that important?

I'm 34 and DH is 39, so I guess abstaining 7-10 days, is out of the question, due to risks of birth defects/miscarriage. Which then leaves daily FR, 7-10 days prior to our one attempt at 0+12. But I want to get PG quickly, and I'm scared that daily FR together with old age, will lower sperm count to much, and will significantly reduce our odds of getting pregnant????? But I also, don't want to compromise my sway?? Arrgghh, So confused?? Any advice, would be much appreciated.

(My past background: I wasn't intentionally swaying. With DS1, we frequent BD through O. With DS2, we abstained 4 days and made one attempt, as soon as I got + OPK. Both times, I fell pregnant the first month TTC, and DH was 35 and over.)

I wouldn't try O+12, if you're a bit older your eggs will likely not survive the 12hrs. You want to have some swimmers up there waiting for the egg to pop out (i.e. BDing the day before OV when you get a pos OPK)

in your position I'd probably FR (not BD, just release and discard) and then have one or two attempts on the day you get a pos OPK/day after

Thanks for the reply rainbowflower. How often should I get DH to release, & how long for, prior to attempt? I'm not comfortable making attempt day of + OPK, as this is how DS2 was conceived, and this is when my PH is close to peaking. I've been temping, and monitoring CM, CP & PH for several months, so I think my attempt will be more like an O+6, or as close to after O as possible, if that makes sense? Will this give any swimmers greater chance of getting to the egg b4 it dies?? And what is the likelihood the egg will still be in good quality??

We honestly don't know why lowering sperm count seems to sway pink, but we have LOTS of studies showing that many different circumstances where men who have lower sperm counts for a variety of reasons all totally unconnected with each other such as biking, where heat and pressure reduces sperm numbers, exposure to many different industrial chemicals where chemicals reduce sperm count/quality, obesity/higher than normal estrogen levels, and deep sea diving/fighter pilots where it's lack of oxygen, ALL have statistically more daughters than should be expected.

Here is the thread on frequency and BD and this should answer all your q's.

If you believe in timing, then BD right on O is boy timing anyway. The problem with O+anything (and this includes for blue swayers as well) is that it takes time for sperm to capacitate (4 hours) and make it to the egg (varies depending on how much CM there is). So you REALLY reduce odds of success for something that has little evidence supporting it anyway. Please read http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...le-timing.html and then this 3 part series on O+12, links in the first essay to the other two (Part 2 also has the how to which should help you anyway) http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-...ry-o-12-a.html

If you do decide to press on with timing (which is fine and totally your option!!) then you may be interested in this thread which has how to blend a cutoff with O+12 if you like. This will increase odds of pg. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-...ff-o-12-a.html
