Can we confirm exactly what e4d or e3d is

Hi! I'm wanting to confirm exactly what is considered e3d and e4d as I think it has changed since I first came here early 2015. I have always understood e4d to be three full days between bds, eg cd8, cd12, cd16 or a Monday, Friday, Tuesday etc. And e3d is two full days between bds so would be eg cd8, 11, 14 etc or a Monday, Thursday, Sunday. Some threads I have been reading tonight indicate e3d is Monday, Wednesday, Friday etc which I have always referred to as eod??? I'm finding I'm having to clarify each time I mention either pattern as I don't want to be misinterpreted....

im not really sure but i did reply to a thread a while ago where i said we did 3 clear days between bd so mon-fri-tues-sat etc.. and Atomic replied saying she views that pattern as every 5 days.

to be honest i dont think Atomic created the e4d method as a strict pattern, its just the name of a flexible method where you bd every few days to still be in with 1 attempt if opk's and one attempt at opk dont work for you for whatever reason..

eg. if you start out at once a week and no bfp then move to 4 clear days between if still nothing then move to 3 clear days between and so on.. but yes pbn i agree that mon-wed-fri is every other day.

im not sure if this confusion will ever be fully cleared up because people use the "e4d" method in different ways depending on their situation, i always just think of it as a bd every few days pattern that goes under the name of "e4d" and its up to you how many "few days" that is!!

sorry to not be of any real help in clearing this up just thought id add how ive come to view it during my time on here and im happy to be corrected if im viewing it all wrong

Ok. I have thrown BOTH "e3d" and "e5d" out the window as being too confusuing.

You can do e4d EITHER Mon/Thurs OR Mon/Fri. They both count for e4d. e4d is NOT about this precise pattern (because there is no magic to e4d, it does nothing other then just keep you in with regular attempts) it is just having one attempt in the fertile window, ok?? That's all.

Most peopel were doing e3d as EOD and they were getting boys doing that. So now I call EOD simply EOD and I can't really recommend it for pink swayers at all. Didn't pan out (and this is yet another reason why I'm convinced bout the number of attempts mattering.)

So, to the difference between Mon/Thurs and Mon/Fri, just keep in mind that closer attempts (mon/Thur) may be better for conception but more pink friendly, and further attempts (Mon/Fri) may be more pink friendly but lower odds of conception.

Now you guys pick the option that is better for you.

It's not, because it's a method and not a specific set of days.

I need to write an indepth essay on it but I really haven't had the time to do that yet because up until very, very recently (like literaly this last month) I did not feel I had enough data on e4d to hang my hat on it.

Thanks Atomic I get the whole thing about being one attempt in fertile window with either pattern. My concern was more for those doing e4d plus extra at pos opk because if they considered e4d as what I call e3d (every 72 hours) then they potentially could end up with 3 attempts which I would think as bad for pink as eod (eg 3-o, 1-o (at pos opk) and o day)... I'll just keep making sure I explain in cd pattern when talking about it so I don't cause any confusion. I wont be active in the ttc & 2ww boards for much longer anyway

Yeah but the only people I ever have doing that have gone on a LONG time not getting pregnant and I think for them it's worth the risk.

Yes very true. You have to make a compromise regarding attempts at some point [emoji4]

And no problem, I've met some wonderful people through this site and have seen so many rainbow babies been conceived it's just been an amazing time [emoji3] I'm so grateful to have found this place [emoji173]
