    Swaying for pink -Metformin?

    Hi Ladies,

I am new to this forum, I have two boys (5 and 2) hoping to get a girl next. I have a mild insulinresistance and I am taking Metformin. I am a petite, 5.2 and 105 lb. I tried loosing weight while on Metformin (pretty easy) and it brought me down to 100lbs within 7 weeks on the GD /LE Diet. Now I went back up because I stopped watching my food intake. I am planning to concieve in January. So if I would start now, that gives me enough time I guess. I am currently taking BCP so I don't know if I will still ovulate if I go lower then 19 BMI. I concieved both boys ( 112lbs) on Vitex( took it both times for 10 days after O- kids are both healthy), Nr. 2 was a failed Shettles attempt (now I don't believe in Shettles anymore- my best friends all concieved girls on O).
My question regarding Metformin is> I keep reading that Bodybuilders use it to define their muscles it actually makes them grow muscles better. I notices since I am taking it ( one year) I grew quite some muscles in my upper arms and legs! When I lost weight my torso got very skinny (boney) - my hips lost a lot fat, but my arms and legs stayed the same. How will I ever be able to loose muscle mass if Metformin keeps it up? Thanks for your input!
    Amy

Hi Amy, I'm back again finally, terribly sorry.

Don't worry about the muscle mass and Metformin. We don't even know how it all works and that's just a theory. We believe that muscle mass sways because it has the potential to raise testosterone. High blood sugar can also raise testosterone and so Metformin, by lowering blood sugar, can bring testosterone levels down which is what you want for pink. Bodybuilders are doing all kinds of stuff to grow their muscle so just because they use Met to enhance muscle definition, that is irrelevant for what we're doing here.

If you weigh 105 lbs, you don't NEED to worry about your muscle mass. You're ok right where you are and the Met will only help your sway by keeping blood sugar and in turn, T levels, down.

Thank you Atomic, took me a while to answer because I keep having trouble logging in ( keep forgetting password....)I have so many questions. I told a friend of mine (mother of 2 boys at that time) 2 year ago, that I tried to get a girl with DS2 and I mentioned that I ate the girls diet (basically I screwed it up because I baked bread without salt but ate it all day with jam, on top of that my opk did not work properly because I used it in the afternoon with fresh peeh... anyway stupid me let start it again)> I did not specify what I ate but she went on a hardcore LE diet and concieved a daughter (which made me so jealous that I don't talk to her anymore since- I know bad me). Whne she concieved (I calculated back from DD) she looked extremely anorexic. She was def underweight and lost even more during first weeks pregnancy (threwing up). She felt right away she got a daughter inside. I was soooo jealous. SO I BELIEVE THAT THE LE DIET WORKS! even without any other sway factors because she for sure did not do anything else. She was hardly ever online and would have never considered any swaying technics we talk about here. She even mentioned that she wouldn't mind having another boy and I believed her. She is a pretty dominant woman of normal weight, ate boys diet, snacked a lot, did not dress very feminin, but changed a lot on diet. She became really weak and I felt like her head was bigger then her body, because of the weight loss. It was so obvious.

I also would recommend to moms with failed sways to get their insulin levels checked. I had this idea in my head and bingo I have a mild insulin resistance even though I am not obese.

Oh, I do that sometimes too, Amy. I always am forgetting passwords!!

People can eat jam on LE Diet but if you have insulin resistance that can sway blue for you, esp. if you eat it all day long!!

thanks for sharing your experiences! Very helpful!!!

Thanks for your help atomic! I am taking Metformin since last year. I am wondering if it is ok for me to eat noodles and rice while taking the Meformin. I asked my Doc but he did not give me a streight answer. He just said to reduce carbs but not to completely avoid them. Of course he told me to eat a lot veggies. But I am worrie that this gives me way too many nutrients. I am really clueless. WIth DS1 I ate out a lot. Mainly Pizza! Even though my BMI was never higher than 20 but I did gain weight if I did not watch my intake. I was able to eat a lot at one meal. for example, I was really surpised when I went out with a collegue a few years ago when we ordered Pizza she was shocked that I ordered an entire one for myself. I got really embarrased and we decided to share (even though I was so starving and really angry). She was always very very skinny ( Bmi definetly under 18, I know now why... she never ate much.....and well 3 month later she concieved... and you can guess what... A GIRL! but her second child is a boy, 2 years later, she did not gain weight, but I swear she must have followed a boys diet. I could not believe it. I was so jealous.

And one other thing I wanted to ask. Could it be that Meformin does sway pink by reducing hunger and that way the general food intake? I mean most people who take Metformin are obese and start loosing weight as soon as they start taking Metformin. So maybe it is just a coincidence of Metformin and not the Metformin itself? Just wondering...
