Exclamation Help! Flu shot 1 week before my attempt??

Hi ladies, I'd love some advice....

Was just on the phone with my mom and she asked if I got my flu shot yet. No, I haven't, that completely skipped my mind!! I'm on cd10 today and planning a girl sway attempt for next week at pos OPK (probably between cd16-cd19).

Is it safe to get a flu shot so soon before ttc?? If I wait and do get pregnant, would a shot be safe in the first trimester? Ugh, wish I thought of this months ago. :-/

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

the shot probably wasn't available months ago so don't beat yourself up.

afaik there is nothing about a flu shot that would sway blue. I'd do it now but let them know you are TTC, there are a couple different formulations and I think one is safer for pg than the other

I had mine an hour ago - they were absolutely fine with it and I'm due to run a pregnancy test around next week (7DPO today, swaying pink). Just let them know, it should be absolutely fine. x

Thanks for the info. I went to the dr b/c of a UTI and asked about the flu shot. He told me I would have to wait to see if I get my period (b/c I was ovulating at the time and already attempted). He explained that the one he has had mercury in it and it's not good for pregnant woman. I guess my gyno would have a different formulation, not sure. However, I am just going to wait to see if I get period or not b/c I don't want to run to my gyno just for this. It's much easier to go my primary dr b/c he is close to my job. Anyhoo, I'm happy to hear that we are still able to get flu shots in first tri. I was worried about that..just in case. I know before I got preggo with my son I received my flu shot but that was like 3 weeks before I conceived.

Came to this website in September 2013 hoping to sway for a girl as we have none on either side of our families (6 boys total). Diagnosed in January 2014 elevated FSH level and extremely low AFC count. Praying and hoping God blesses me with one more healthy child whether it be another boy or a girl. Praying my RE can help me to achieve my dream of giving my son a sibling some time soon.

Thank you so much, Atomic and everyone else. That really sets my mind at ease. I'll try to get the non-mercury formulation ASAP then. :-)
