Has anyone tried those Miracle Noodles Atomic has mentioned a few times. I was just looking at their website, and I'm seriously considering giving them a try. I'm just having such a hard time keeping my protein levels low, and if I could have a pasta with pretty much no protein in it, it would make my life way easier. I just wonder what they taste like - since we're so limited in the seasonings we put on our pasta, I wonder if it would taste gross with, say just unsalted butter and parm, which is often how I eat my pasta.
Thoughts, anyone?

I just need to add that I just read some reviews, and it sounds like you can buy similar products in the refrigerated aisle in Asian markets (and sometimes even in regular grocery stores), as Miracle Noodles are just modeled after a traditional Japanese noodle. Maybe I'll try to find some locally before investing in a big internet order. I would LOVE to find something like pasta but without all that pesky protein, though!

Hi mocha, I ordered a pack but haven't tried them yet as I'm not sure how you cook them. They come in liquid and look quite strange, i'll try and fry them like noodles today and let you know but they don't look too good!!!

From reading about them, it appears that the most important thing is that you rinse them before cooking. The liquid they are stored in apparently smells fishy, and it turns a lot of people off. I think you can then boil them, but only for 1 minute or something like that.

Yes, I tried the Chinese ones, I think they were called glas noodles over here, they were very low protein.
The taste was okay, they are a bit jelly-like, I ate them without condiments because at lunch time IŽm just so hungry now that i like pasta and rice plain now. I think if you spice them up and add leeks and zucchini it tasts OK.
But I think I also could feel they had less protein, 2 hours after lunch I was hungry and with low blood sugar again, normally with my couscous I feel better for a longer time and since I really try not to snack I didnŽt eat them anymore.
BUT I discovered gluten free pasta, the amount of protein in it is more than half less than in normal pasta!
And it tastes like normal pasta, I think youŽll really like it. You just have to check all the types because they vary in amount of protein.

Good to know, Indira - I'll check out gluten free pasta for sure! There's a health food store really close to me that specialises in gluten free products, so maybe I'll check it out later today!

I haven't ordered them yet so I don't know how they taste specifically, but I ate all kinds of different noodles in Asia and they were all really tasty. These aren't a weird diet product cooked up in a lab, they're real food that people in other parts of the world have eaten for many years
Of course, if you're following the Low-Everything diet, you could use some low-sod. tomato sauce on top and some parmesan, or some low-sod. broth and lots of vegies...no one needs to eat gross dry mystery noodles!!!!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Just wanted to add that I've tried both the Miracle Noodles and the ones you buy in the store. I like the store bought ones a bit better since you don't have to rinse them off nearly as long and I think the taste a bit better. You'll have to get creative about what you put on them as they don't taste as good as reg pasta but they certainly fill you up. The store bought ones have a few more cals in them but it's such a paltry amount that I don't care. Also, you can get the store bought ones right away. I like to use them for dinner since I don't eat carbs in the evening usually (and these aren't really carbs). GL!

Thanks for the info, Out of the Blue - I'll try the storebought ones first for sure, especially since if anything I need to find a way to INCREASE my calories. Since even with two servings of pasta a day I have trouble breaking 1000 calories on this diet, I'm afraid that if I remove pasta from my diet I'll end up with hardly any calories at all! What do you put on them to eat them? Do they taste ok with an alfredo sauce or tomato sauce on them?
