I think it's one of those medications you need to seek advice from your doctor before you take it. Have you tried inhaling steam to tide you over for tonight? Try talking to your doctor or a pharmacist tomorrow (unless you can contact a 24 hour pharmacy).

Can you take a steamy shower? Should open up your nasal passages.

When I was pg with ds1 I got really poorly with a chest infection. I found that steaming your head over a bowl of hot water with Friars Balsam (available from UK chemists) really helped. If you can't find it - it's an old remedy - just use some Vicks Vaporub. I assume it's sold in Ireland? Hope you're feeling better very soon, being poorly & pg is horrible!

My doctor office told me I can take any medicine over the counter accept sudafed! So, don't take that one!! Can u take tynenol cold? Or something else? I just spoke to them a few weeks ago and dr. told me that!
also if you can do not take anything in first trimester it is just so not worth it!! I got sick three times in the first trimester and I literally did not take anything except i did have some halls even though that was probably not ideal and then i switched to riccola. I suffered! I still have a very cold winter here so I am worried about getting more sick. I know there are medications that are ok to take in second trimester for sore throats i heard. Good luck I know it stinks being sick and not being able to do anything about it.Last edited by GT77; December 10th, 2013 at 07:16 PM.

it used to be considered safe but new data indicates may raise risks of rare birth defects slightly, so you have to weigh the benefits vs. risks.
