Hi ladies so I'm on my second round of Clomid now at a higher dosage. I remember last cycle I was dry but was not painful when dtd. I just finished my second round and we bd last night (cd8) and I was super dry and it was painful. Are there any girl friendly lubricants that I can get over the counter? Now I understand what other ladies say when it hurts. Ugh!! I'm assuming I will be drier as days come (is this what hostile cm means).?
Thanks

Clomid & lubricant?
Sylk is girl friendly. Have you thought about using rephresh? Atomic has a great article about it!

I know olive oil is very slight acidic (girl friendly) and I have used it in the past with no problems, when I was on hormonal birth control and dry. I just use good quality EVOO. Maybe AS can weigh in on its suitability for TTC girl.
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP
TTC #1- swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!
Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic
Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

Olive oil (like cooking oil)? I think I've heard of Sylk I might go to the store as soon as I get a chance to see if they have it. I do have rephresh but I think that would probably make it more impossible to get pg.

I do not recommend using oil, it's totally different than CM and may interfere with pregnancy and can also cause infections.

No Sylk, Acijel, RepHresh, Replens, KY, etc on Clomid. (exception, those who are going to take Clomid for the full 6 month run might want to try one of these jellies the first month or two starting off)
My recommendation is to use a small amount of Preseed/Conceive Plus, just enough to get the job done. It wont' sway at that small an amount.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Olive oil has been used as lube for thousands of years. Many drs actually recommend it. Have you seen research showing otherwise?
Personally I'd rather use something I know is safe to eat than a cocktail of synthetics. I like coconut oil even more but I think it might be more boy-friendly.
I use good quality extra virgin cold pressed oils, like you'd use in a salad. I have very sensitive skin and have even been prone to UTIs with some partners but I've never had a problem while using Olive or Coconut Oil.

I don't say stuff without having done research into it. Fact. I'm not here to defend my opinions and anyone can take or leave anything I say. Ya wanna use oil for a lube, go for it. Do I think it's a good idea based on the 6 years of research I put into this stuff, no. Need a study to show this: here. The effects of coital lubricants on sperm motilit... [Hum Reprod. 1998] - PubMed - NCBI available to anyone with a quick google search. Also in TCOYF. Not sure why I, who am pretty darn busy, has to take time out of my day to prove that I am not just talking out my butt but hey whatevs.
Just because a doctor tells people to do something doesn't mean it's a good idea. Doctors tell people stuff that is freaking crazy/shockingly uninformed on pretty much a daily basis.
It has nothing to do with whether you can ingest something that makes it a good lube or not. You can ingest blueberries or roast beef and they aren't going to be a good lube. It's the chemical properties of oil itself that are the problem, the way you put a drop into water and it disperses out but doesn't really mix with the water itself. The cervical mucus your body makes is water soluble and that's what sperm are meant to swim thru. Not oil. Oil is absolutely nothing like semen or cervical mucus, it interferes with the sperm's ability to swim, and it doesn't work for getting pregnant for some people. It also causes some people to get yeast infections and that is also fact whether or not it's true for you personally. People are able to get pregnant doing a lot of stuff that inhibits sperm and it's because they have EWCM that can wash stuff away. But on Clomid people have less CM and it may be sperm-hostile in and of itself.
There was one study done back in 1996 that seemed to show canola oil didn't affect sperm function negatively but as we all know, studies get overturned all the time and that wasn't done on people who were on Clomid and did not involve pregnancy outcomes. Oil as lube is 110% NOT a good idea for people on Clomid which is what this question is about.
Preseed shown to be best lube in a whole host of studies available here Clinical Studies Show That Pre-Seed is Fertility Friendly!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
