4 day cut off or O+12?
-
July 4th, 2014, 11:06 AM #2
Hi and welcome! Here we don't do cutoff or o+12, mist of us believe frequency is what sways, not timing. If you're ttc a girl, there have been great results with focusing on one attempt at +opk! and if you're ttc a boy! try to get 2-4 attempts in the fertile window. We believe the diet is crucial also when paired with frequency.

Neither. Timing doesn't sway and you will really really cut your odds of conception to virtually nil with either.

So abstaining for a while before one attempt around O is best? So many conflicting things on the Internet it's hard to get my head around it! Have you ever heard of the Prince or princess book? It looks like a scam just wondered if anyone knows if it is or not? Thanks again

One attempt seems to be working regardless of abstain. THere are lots of options out there. Some people give abstain a try. The most important thing is that you keep that one attempt if possible.
The reason why you read confusing things online is because everyone else is just dishing up the same theories as fact and it's what got most of us 3-4-5 boys LOL so we took a closer look at the biology and are using more reliable methods.
Yes, I"ve heard of Prince or Princess. And yes I believe it's a scam and I can already tell it is relying on timing which has been 100% debunked. Anything reporting 94% accuraccy is too good to be true.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

I defer to the timing info atomic provided, however, having read the entire updated shettles book from cover to cover, if you actually followed everything he said in the book for ttc girl, you probably would sway pink. Aside from the timing thing (3 day cut off) he also says that you should do frequent release every day from af to your cut off attempt. Given that the cutoff is probably at the very beginning of your fertile window, this is in effect forcing couples to have only 1 attempt at their fertile time, which probably accounts for his claimed success rate of around 65% for ttc girl (which is pretty close to the average for every credible swaying resource, I think). Now, I think atomic is absolutely right about the fact that such a strict cutoff and o + 12 makes it really hard to get pregnant at all, but to the extent that shettles may have accidentally caused people to help people away with the frequent release and 1 attempt, it's just worth mentioning. Good luck with your sway!

I agree totally Christi - sometimes it's better to be lucky than good and Shettles just happened to get lucky on a couple of his recommendatons. That's why it seemed to work for people in his studies and it's hung around as long as it has. I think Shettles is more "forgivable" for pink than blue. Would not recommend it for blue and have seen tons of opposites with people doing that.
The issue with Shettles (aside from the fact that people don't get pg with it, like Christi mentioned) is that firstly people lose sight of the forest for the trees and start doing things that sway blue while keeping the bad parts of Shettles - like having 2-3-4 attempts and then a 2 or 3 day cutoff (this is how I got DS 3) or doing the Ingender cutoff + O+12 thing but miscalculating ovulation and ending up with 2 attempts in fertile window. And also that for anyone who's superfertile and can just shake it all off, it is absolutely completely and totally possible to have one attempt 3 days from ovulation and if you have a lot of CM and your hubby is a supersperm machine, get boys doing that. So if you want to try it WITH diet, exercise, etc. and stick to the one attempt, that's your call to make. But be sure to avoid the other sway tactics that really cut odds of conception (antihistamine, jelly, douching and I'd even consider dropping frequency in lieu of keeping the one attempt with cutoff)!!! That is a great point, atomic. I was wondering if there is a post somewhere where you have the heirarchy of swaying tactics in order of the things you "drop" when loosening a sway after a couple BFN. I noticed that you said holding onto the diet and one attempt should be the absolute last things to go, but I was wondering if you had an opinion on some of the other strategies. I.e. dropping the jellies before the antihistamines, or dropping the frequent release before the jellies, or some other combination). Just curious....
