Hypothyroidism - high TSH and swaying girl this week

    Hello lovely ladies,

I've been doing a bit of research as I developed post partum thyroiditis after DS2. It was swinging between hyper and hypo but is now firmly hypo and has been for about a year. I started taking thyroxin 6 weeks ago and my TSH has come down a little to 5.65 and now my dose has been quadrupled to get it down quicker. I've been planning my sway this week for the best part of a year. I'm wondering if there are any other ladies who have had high TSH and conceived girls? I know there is a risk of miscarriage plus foetal abnormalities with high TSH but my endocrinologist is sure that my TSH will come down quickly now that we've increased the dosage. However if I can conceive with this TSH, I'd really like to know which way it sways? I have found one study that showed high TSH swayed pink but anecdotal evidence proves otherwise.

    Thank you.

i too developed post partum thyroiditis after my ds2 but unfortunately didnt know about it until after my failed sway with ds3. Once i started the thyroxine my levels dropped within a week or 2 and i felt like a completely different person so hopefully your level will drop as fast. I also believe that my hypo thyroid led to onset pcos which i believe sways blue (due to testosterone etc) so i can only think that taking the meds which could prevent this from happening is a good thing for swaying girl. GL!

Thank you! I think it depends on what your thyroid is doing at the time. Mine is improving but still out of range and others with the condition might have it under control at the time due to medication. We will have to see if I can even get PG at the moment!

studies outweigh anecdotes!! would love to see link, I think I know the study you're talking about but can't find it in a short search

I personally do not believe it's thyroid in and of itself that does anything and have seen plenty of people with kids of both genders hypo/hyperthyroid. but that there are often things that go WITH thyroid (such as higher rates of PCOS amongst people with thyroid issues) that do sway and it gets all muddled up.

Yes I agree - thanks Atomic! Link to study here Sex Ratio at Birth Is Associated with First-Trimester Maternal Thyrotropin in Women Receiving Levothyroxine - Tags: SEX ratio PREGNANCY -- Trimester, First

I'm very happy with ther results, especially with my recent TSH readings, though when I think of all my hypothyroid friends and their boys and those who had girls up until they developed the condition it sort of freaks me out. However I don't have PCOS, which is good.

I think my problem is that I feel like everything is stacked against me this swaying week as I've had to start taking antibiotics too as I had a cyst lanced this week. Anyway I'll stop stressing and just stick to what sways girl. Just one question; I've been doing cardio 3-4 times a week for four months and for the past month 6-7 times a week so is that enough recommended cardio for me as O this week? Thanks.

I can't say "yes this is enough" or "no this isn't" because I just can't know! I wish i could look in a crystal ball and be able to say when it's ok to have an attempt, but I'm not able to.

My thyroid was 4 and I never have had thyroid issues until now. I only tested it due to doing ht. My level is very low niw and I am struggling to keep it at a good level its now 0.015 i had it tested yesterday , I have really dry skin so I think its getting too low. Can this effect pregnancy outcome? I wonder could this be why my fet didnt work?

I think high thyroid levels are the problem as the embie/baby can't get enough thyroxin from you but your levels indicate that you have plenty of thyroxin in your system so I doubt this was the problem. But the imbalance does suggest a problem. I would speak to your GP about it and perhaps see a specialist. I take thyroxin and my levels are being keenly monitored to ensure I have enough thyroxin in my system in case I'm pregnant this cycle.

I do think you need to get that under control before TTC Pinkin. BUt there are a kajillion reasons why a FET may not have worked out and the unfortunate truth is, no one ever really knows why. I have seen people tie themselves in knots wondering why their FET didn't work out and doing tons of research etc. So many things have to go exactly right for a pregnancy to occur, it's not a mystery when it doesn't work out, it's actually a mystery why it works as often as it does.

I am concerned that since you're prob. going to sway now, the more you obsess over why your FET didn't work, that's not going to help your sway any. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...ypothesis.html
