It does have a bit of caff in it but it doesn't amount to much. The very dark choc has more than milk choc does but nowhere near the amount in even a small cup of coffee.

This is very interesting. I lived in Switzerland last year and found that eating pain au chocolate for breakfast totally cured my coffee craving. Been using 85% dark chocolate as a java substitute ever since.
Just out of curiosity... I understand that DH should get a small caffeine boost before BD because it gives Y sperm a little kick, but what effect (if any?) would it have on DW? I'm planning d/IUI and would like to give the little fellas all the help they can get. My FS said to stay away from coffee, but would some dark chocolate before insem be good or badLast edited by leap_of_faith; August 11th, 2011 at 03:47 AM.

Well, it doesn't really give Y sperm a kick, it gives ALL sperm a kick, and for some reason more sperm at the egg seems to help give the Y sperm an advantage (we don't know why.)
Before IUI, (if you are allowed to eat??) I would eat a small meal/snack with both protein and carbs, like a turkey sandwich or something, and if you'd like to eat some choc with that, then that's fine. DON'T eat just the choc though, because your blood sugar will spike and then crash and that's not what you want...you want your blood sugar to stay level as much as you can around the time the egg will be fertilized and during the 2WW.
Good luck!!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
