No, I don't think we know what or even IF salt really truly sways boy. It's just a part of the FGD so it's been a part of swaying.
ETA - the thinking behind it is that X and Y sperm are differently charged and that the egg is primed to electrically attract one over the otehr, and that the sodium ions help with that process. But no one has ever been able to prove that X and Y sperm are differently charged; the studies that tentatively thought they had found an electrical charge on sperm were later debunked.
The Oxford study DID find more sodium intake among moms who went onto conceive boys, but the researchers thought that might be in part because moms who conceived boys ate more calories and so ate more sodium just as a matter of course.
For my part, I believe that with the seemingly endless taste humans have for salty foods worldwide and yet the gender ratio stays pretty close to 50-50 regardless, the idea that salt sways blue in any large or undeniable way, does not seem to be at all supported by facts.Last edited by atomic sagebrush; August 7th, 2011 at 08:06 PM.

So do you feel it's just more important overall to eat less and not worry as much about sodium intake? I have no problem dieting and not eating a whole lot but the salt thing seems to be more of a problem (not salting foods but foods that already have salt)... I just read the other day an article about gender ratio and they said that there was a study done where mom's who in general ate more calories a day and more nutrient rich foods had more boys and moms who ate less had more girls. It wasn't a big amount though.... Also that higher sodium= more boys and higher calcium intake= more boys. Makes me almost want to stop the calcium and magnesium and just stick with the vitex, folic acid, cranberry, and allergy pills and skip the high amount of dairy and just try and eat as little as possible.

Yes, I think it's MUCH more important to eat less overall than it is to reduce salt. Like, by a factor of a BILLION.
I think that article is just talking about the Oxford study. I would love to see a link if you have half a sec though. Again, the researchers thought that it was only because the moms who went onto conceive boys ate more food overall, that was the only reason they had more sodium. I do think the more calcium = boys is very important though because it proves that calcium is no magic bullet for pink.
Hey, you should check out the Calcium Conundrum part 3 because we were talking about whether or not calcium really truly sways pink or not in that. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/show...ucting-the-FGD
I don't think it's any big secret that I am not a big fan of the cal-mag and extra dairy for pink swayers.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
