Gender accuracy, I have options but need help deciding!

I am so obsessed with finding out the gender. I wasn't like this with my first 2 but the gender desire has just gotten so out of control. I am 16 weeks tomorrow. So these are my options, I could pay $125 and go for a 3D ultrasound at 18 weeks. Or I could go for my 20 week 2D anatomy scan at 18 weeks or I could wait until 20 weeks for better accuracy but I am just so impatient. But now I am getting so nervous that if they tell me girl at 18 weeks and are wrong I would be so emotionally distraught. Is 3D at 18 weeks really really accurate?! I planned to go for 3D after the 2D if they told me girl just to be sure but if they tell me boy I will just believe it and not waste money (that I don't have lol) on 3d. Ugh. This is out of control.

With DD1 I waited until my anatomy scan which was at 19 weeks. I then paid money to get it confirmed at 21 weeks. With DD2 I paid money to go for the 2/3/4D scan at 17/18 weeks I needed to know. With DS3 he was obviously a boy at 16 weeks 6 days and with DD2 she was obviously a girl at early 17weeks. (I forget how many days)

Well, actually 2D is better for gender! And 18 weeks is more than good enough for gender detection. 18 weeks or 20 weeks, makes no difference. I had my gender detected at 13 weeks (2D scan) and it was correct. Most places say 14-15 weeks minimum, so 18 weeks is really good. I was told boy 3 times at an 18 weeks anatomy scan (2D) and it was correct. They could tell really easily.

So my advice is to have an 18 week anatomy scan and see what they say about gender there. As I said, 2D is actually better for gender, as 3D can seem bulgy and out of focus.

    Good luck deciding!

I'd go for 20 week 2d scan at 18 weeks and save the $$$.

They are rarely wrong at 18 weeks, it does happen but usually quite accurate.

totally with Claire, 2D is better for gender anyway and I feel the 3d places actually make more mistakes anyway.

Well I had my anatomy scan today at 18 weeks 3 days. Everything looked great and the tech was very sweet and spent a lot of time on the gender for me and it looks like it's a..... GIRL!
