Newly pregnant and feeling a bit down about my chances

I've just found out we're expecting number 3 and am very excited although terrified about the nauseous ill phase which usually lasts for me from 6-14weeks...

I was attempting the BD every 4 days technique in order to get one attempt in my fertile window. Last month I ovulated on CD17

So this month we DTD on day 5, day 9, and then to my surprise I got my high fertility on the clearblue monitor on day 10 and peak on day 11, with a positive cheapie opk that day too. So if we had left it the planned 4 days it would have been outside the fertile window so I panicked and we DTD on day 11 too.

FF gave me an ovulation day of day 12 and Lo and behold I was pregnant on a test by 9DPO

So I ended up conceiving with DTD 1 day before ovulation. As it turns out we did only have the one attempt in the fertile period, but the attempt before it was only 2 days before so does that ruin it?

Hope this all makes sense to some of you. I wish I could be less obsessed by it. I really don't want to ruin my pregnancy worrying about gender as 3 boys is by no means the end of the world for me. I just can't stop thinking about whether I ruined my chances of a girl!

PS - the DTD were all unprotected releases with me

I do believe that the attempt on day 9 would have still been considered in the fertile window if you peaked on day 11, that's why it's every 4 days so you did still always have a chance in each 4 day window. With that being said, 2 attempts is obviously much better than 3-4 at least. Did you continue with the diet and exercise through the week after ovulation?

Hmm ok that's what I thought. My opk was negative and low fertility on day 9 so I didn't consider that one within my fertile window. And I thought if I ovulated day 12 (which I did) then it would be yet another month with 3 days before ovulation attempt and that hadn't worked previously. It's all so difficult to know the best thing to do. Sigh

I continued exercise and skipping breakfast for most of the TWW. Can I ask though how the TWW makes a difference? Because if you ovulate and the sperm penetrates the egg then what is happening for those two weeks is the fertilised embryo travelling through the tube and implanting. And the sex is determined from the minute the sperm meets the egg?

We did 0-2 and 0-1 as well. My boys was multiple attempts through ovulation. I do not feel much different than when I was preggo with my boys. I was hoping something would be reeeeeal different. I have had all my twinges and cramps on my left side where I had most on the right with my boys. Especially DS2. I know that means absolutely nothing but hey! It's something different. Lol

Good luck, as Atomic says you always have a chance to have either gender! xx

The only reason diet is important in TWW is to give an XX the best chances of survival. Girls do better in low glucose environments while boys to better in high glucose (I believe? I could have it wrong though).

    HI Floral.

I think you did the right think having another attempt. Regardless of if it counts for 1-2 attempts (which is totaly irrelevant at this point) I suspect your odds of conception would have been poor sticking with one attempt CD 9. not impossible, but poor.

Not I nor anyone else can tell you what you're having! Please try to get out and about and stop thinking about "woulda coulda shoulda" because there is ALWAYS something that could have been changed in any sway. Remember, you could be staring at a negative test right now thinking "woulda, coulda, shoulda". As far as I'm concerned you did the right thing.

Nothing can be different in early pregnancy because the Y chromosome is dormant and is not making testosterone until the 10-11 week mark. All babies are hormonally girls at this stage. You cannot predict gender by symptoms in early pregnancy.
