I just finished tracking my food on My Fitness Pal for the day and I'm only at 1700mg of potassium. This is the first time I've actually checked for potassium and my first time tracking in a while. I was only at 1400 but I just had a banana to bump it up. I feel like this was a normal day for me-everything bagel with butter and herb and garlic cream cheese, 2 large coffee with Bailey's creamer, homemade chicken pizza on Naan bread with mushrooms and green peppers, 2 shortbread cookies and I'm having wine now. Plus the banana but that is not usual for me.
I was just reading the LE Diet FAQ thread and I saw that potassium shouldn't be lower than 2500mg so now I'm worried.![]()

I believe that I read in one of Atomic's post that MFP doesn't accurately track potassium. I'm sure she will she your post and let you know her thoughts.

I thought I had read that somewhere too but then I thought it was sodium that she mentioned. Searching the forum for "low potassium" brings up A LOT of threads of course so that's kind of pointless.
Thank you though. Hoping you're right!Mama to four sweet boys

MFP really VASTLY underestimates potassium consumption so most likely you are fine especially if you feel fine. BUT, why not add a banana and/or a couple coconut waters and/or potatoes each day just in case?

Oh right! I forgot that potatoes are high in potassium. That would work. I like all kinds of potatoes so that wouldn't be a problem. My boys love bananas so they rarely last long enough for me to get one, lol.
Good to know that MFP underestimates potassium. 800mg under seemed like a lot. Thanks ladies!Mama to four sweet boys

MFP is inaccurate on potassium because practically all foods have it listed, but it's not on labels so doesn't get entered into MFP info.
Sodium is also super inaccurate on MFP, so you read both.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
