    Weight gain!

    So, I have been on the high everything diet for 3 and a half weeks now and have put on 3kgs already. Gone from 47kg to 50kg. I would say I am getting about 2200 calories a day with 3 meals and 3 snacks per day. I don't want to keep putting on 1kg a week! Do you think the weight gain will settle down? Or should I drop down to 2 snacks a day? Or should I just keep up what I am doing considering I have a small frame?

    And with the meal/snack timing what should the typical/average time between these be? Say if I was to drop down to 2 snacks a day when should I optimally have these snacks?

    Bec don't drop the snacks because we need to keep the blood sugar as even as we can. Yeah putting on weight sucks big time I absolute hate it!!! But we want that boy right? And so we do what ever it takes. If I get another girl I don't want to look back and think it's because I didn't eat that damn banana ect.
    And I put on over 20 lbs now!
    But it will settle down for sure it's not going up like crazy forever.
    When will you ttc? let's hope you get a bfp this try and you don't have to do it anymore.

    I have gained about 8 lbs, but it seems to fluxuate a little. I was feeling punky over the weekend and didn't eat much, and lost 2lbs! I am stuffing my face today to make up for it.

    Keep eating, Bec! Flava is right, keep up your blood sugar.

    i also gained over 20lbs. yuck. i actually stopped weighing myself bc i know ill freak out. ill weight myself once i get a BFP. dont stop snacks. just eat healthy.

    i also foun di gained the most weight the 1st month or so and then started to slow down but still gained. your body takes a while to get used to all teh sudden calories. then (for me at least) it gets the rhythm. and may ask for more later..

    youll lose the weight after you give birth to your son. ;-)

    Thanks ladies

    Flava, we're going to try towards the end of next month. It has come around quick!

    I'm not concerned about gaining weight I just don't want to gain 'too' much. I read somewhere that Atomic said if you are gaining 'too much' then you could drop your snacks down to 2 a day. Guess I will just see how the next few weeks go.

    Gizmo, hopefully I'm the same and the weight gain slows down a bit. Yep, can totally lose it once we have our sons.

    Bec, not to get you discouraged, but you know I gained about 35lbs with the diet over the past year. I think it depends on how long you can handle it. For me, with this DH Dx of low count, there is no point in me getting fatter and fatter since we may not get pg for years if at all now. I dropped the diet and have lost 10lbs in about 2 weeks. You may want to think about how you can modify the food you are eating....calorie-wise.....Atomic suggested nuts for b'fast on my losing weight thread and I think in general, you can cut it back if you feel you are gaining too much and still have a body that thinks it is living large and boy-friendly. Sorry, though, I know how much it sucks to gain weight. I wish I had a good pic to post of me pre and post sway, I look like a different person, or at least a puffed-up version of Lola.

    And yes, like Giz said, you can go with the mentality that 3P1B and many of us had, which is screw it now, just eat and do it, and then you can lose it after the baby is born. Just depends on how angry you'd be about getting fat for so long if it was a girl, I guess. I would have been mad, but of course, I'd take whatever now.

    Lola, wow that's a bit weight loss in such a short time. But it is also good to know how easily it is coming off. If the weight gain continues at this rate, I think I will try and modify the foods I am eating a bit and see if that makes a difference. I don't want to turn into a heffa and as I'm only short that's what will happen if the gain doesn't steady out. Thankyou for the advice

    Yea, I am with you Bec. If I was still swaying, I would modify my diet big time and eat way less calories. There are lots of women who are very thin and don't stuff their face all day long and have boys.....it's not the magic bullet, by far. I think the key is to have a nice range of nutrients (from food AND vitamins) and just be healthy. Lots of women also sway girl hardcore and have boys, and they are eating nothing and putting sperm-killers in their vag....you just never know. I would definitely say DON'T get to gaining a lot, you will feel badly about yourself and it may not help in the end anyway.

    1) Are you exercising??? If not, you should, that will help. (sorry I know we talked about this already, it's just hard for me to keep everyone straight. If you're gaining weight and it's mostly muscle, I would celebrate and say hallelujah.

    2)Yes, your metabolism can change, esp. if you add more muscle than fat. You'll burn more cals all day long with muscle.

    3)You can def. drop down to 2 snacks a day - have breakfast first thing, then a midmorning snack, then lunch, afternoon snack, and a later dinner...or else just an earlier dinner and then a bedtime snack, whatever works with your schedule. Make very sure you are doing both proteins and carbs at every meal and snack though.
