    Regular exercise building muscle

    Hi,

    I have started the daily 60 min cardio exercise and even after a couple of days feel far more toned and muscular - i.e. my calves are solid instead of flabby! Even put on half a pound yesterday despite very low calorie eating. I am slim naturally (tiny bit of excess weight on hips, bum, thighs) and do have a tendency to easily tone when I regularly exercise. Would I be better not doing the exercise or is it beneficial even if I am becoming more toned? I can't be a total coach potato because I do aqua aerobics one day a week with my mum and don't want her to suspect anything but I could do no other exercise (other than chasing around after two boys). What do you think is best? Thanks.

    Do the exercise.

    Muscle mass was just a theory. But we can see in our results that exercise works.

    It is very hard for women to gain muscle. If you're on a lower protein diet and losing a bit of weight, it's just about impossible. It IS impossible to gain 1/2 lb of muscle in a day.

    Tiny fluctuations in weight are not indicative of anything. It's normal for weight to go up and down even as much as 5 lbs just on the basis of food in your stomach and water. I find when I start working out a lot that I sometimes retain a little fluid that then goes away over time.

    Thank you. Will keep up with the exercise! I think I was dieting far too much - was basically starving myself as scared to eat the wrong things! Have let go a bit now and being more sensible but keeping within limits and focussing on cutting down the protein as I do have a high protein diet. Can I just ask about fibre? What exactly do you mean about taking fibre and why does it sway? I'm in the UK so don't recognise a lot of the products mentioned. Thanks.

    Starving is not allowed. Please keep in the limits!!

    Fiber is a type of supplement that is designed for those who are constipated (and is also believed to be generally good for health) . We use it because it can absorb small amounts of fat and fat soluble nutrients from your diet. Just take a small dose with meals containing fat. No need if you are not eating fat.

    Your chemist will be able to suggest a lot of brands to you.
