Dealing with questions about weight loss

    Hi lovely ladies

Just wondering how people deal with questions about diet / weight loss. I'm already small but have noticeably lost weight & never know how to answer questions about it - generally I'm vague & say I'm always on my feet wrangling the kids / still breastfeeding my almost 2 year old but it's so uncomfortable! I feel very self conscious. Can't wait to get preg!

That's exactly what I always said, usually wrangling a small child! If you brush it off as no big deal then people will most likely think it's just a temporary thing.

Be careful to not lose too much. Make sure to keep your BMI above 18. If you feel the weight is flying off too fast, especially since you're breastfeeding, up your calories. You should be eating 1800-2000 calories while breastfeeding and do not count any vegetables for calories- they are free! 40-60g fat and 40-60g protein. I too had to watch how much I would lose, since I breastfed while swaying too.

FX and GL to you!! You are doing a great job!!

Are you doing exercise to sway as well, or just diet? If you're doing exercise I would just say that "I've been running/walking/cycling/whatever-you-do a few times a week".

Make sure that you don't lose too much. If you don't have much left to lose, make sure you are hitting the upper limits!

If you're getting too thin, you need to put on the brakes and stop weight loss. Once you get to BMI 21, it is time to hold steady (this gives you a margin in case weight comes off more). And if you're approaching BMI 18.5 that is the absolute lowest and you need to do whatever it takes to hold steady. Up cals until weight loss stops even if you exceed diet limits

Thanks for the replies I definitely don't want to drop anymore, BMI is around 19 or 20 & if I don't get preg this month I'll have to just ease up on things. I'm not exercising - just can't manage it between the boys & work!

    Congrats XX on your pregnancy!

I don't want you to wait till next month, stop losing NOW.

When you're petite, even just a lb or two pushes you into too low a BMI and your body just doesn't want to get preggo in that situation. So we have to be really, really proactive once your weight drops below BMI 21 to stop losing, and then that way you do still have the margin if a tiny amount more sneaks off in the meantime.

Thanks Atomic - I'll work towards three meals a day & upping calories. Definitely don't want to stop conception all together! it's hard because I was already vego, small & exercising when I had my sons... was hoping I could manage on less to get a girl.

3 meals a day has always been allowed!!! There's a misconception that you have to only have 2, but that isn't true, 2 or 3 are equally acceptable. I got my girl with 3 meals!
