Hello everyone! I'm new to posting, but have been lurking for months. I have 3 boys and this is our first month trying to conceive our 4th (we are swaying pink). I am on the first day of my cycle and usually ovulate around CD14-16. I've been reading for months and feel very prepared for my girl sway, but am asking my first question for something totally unrelated.
I've had botox for years and received my injections today in my forehead and around my eyes. For some reason, I never thought about it being a risk PRIOR to ttc, so didn't give it second thought before going in to my appointment. I met a friend afterwards that was shocked I would do it prior to trying this month as it would be in my system. I figured since botox is localized to the forehead area, it wouldn't pose any risk to a fetus. My derm didn't ask me if we weren't trying, either. Have I done something to put any future baby in danger? If so, we will delay trying. I want to take no risks, but also can't wait too long (I'm 37). Can someone please provide any educated input? I tried looking online, but the feedback is mixed.

Botox and trying to conceive a girl?
Botulism toxin A injections are a pregnancy category C. Studies done in rats and mice suggest intramuscular injections may cause fetal harm. I would consider taking a pass this cycle, if you are close to ovulation.
🤞🏻and good luck to you!!

Aughhh xx, the more I think about this, the more it freaks me out! I too get Botox, and I too didn't think much of it (literally kicking myself right now!!!). Please do not tell me I need to also skip a cycle... As you know, I'm starting clomid in a few days and worried that I will get pregnant and the Botox will somehow affect a fetus. Atomic, please help!!!

As long as you don't get an injection around ovulation time, you should be fine, according to my pharmacist (I'm still friends with my former pharmacy manager). I would stop getting injections while you are TTCing though, from now on.

XXforhubby thank you for that information. Do you know what specifically he meant by "around ovulation"? If I'm about 2 weeks from ovulation, is that too close?
Atomic do you have any further considerations on this?

Botox and trying to conceive a girl?
I believe you can still try for this cycle, since ovulation is about 2 weeks away. I would avoid getting any injections after ovulation has occurred. Make sure to take a pregnancy test to be sure before getting any future injections. If it were me, I would avoid getting anymore injections while TTCing since it is a category C.
HTH!!

I hope this is the case for me also. I get injections for migraines and have been for the past 2.5 years. I always believed it to be localized to the area and not systemic, but now I'm wondering if it's released into your blood when it's breaking down and could potentially cross the placenta. Atomic, would you suggest moving forward or skipping in my case also? I swear, the worrying never ends! [emoji19]
