Ibuprofen

I am supposed to ovulate this week and I had such bad tooth pain last night I was in tears. I had nothing else so i took a 200 mg ibuprofen and now im freaking out.Can someone give me some peace of mind! [emoji52]

It is typically higher doses or low doses taken for long periods that cause LUFS and not an occasional low dose.

I take ibuprofen at least that much daily if not much more for neck pain and have done so for years, and it's never delayed or prevented O for me. I never got pregnant doing that but I never tried to get pregnant doing that, either.

So I have daily headaches and usually take 3 ibuprofen a day. Maybe more with the heat and what not depending on how I feel. When I have bad sinus pressure I take it more often which is bad in the summer. Why and how can this delay. If I stop taking it will I resume back to my normail cycle. This cycle has been very off for me and I'm wondering if this could contribute. Thanks

Many times you would not even have an abnormal cycle with LUFS. It is far, far, far more likely that it is something else.

Ibuprofen (and in fact any anti-inflammatory, even aspirin) can cause a situation where your body doesn't release the egg properly, or even at all. It just stays in the follicle. You need to be a little inflamed to ovulate, it seems to be part of the process, and some of these type of medications can interfere with that. So in that case we see people who appear to be ovulating and even getting AF but ultrasounds will reveal that they don't release the egg or it takes several days by which point it is dead or so badly damaged in the process that it can't be fertilized.

Please understand this is NOT a super common or even at ALL common occurance and even for those who have this problem, it is only rarely ever linked to anti-inflammatory use. So it's a very rare, rare thing, most of the time you'd not even have an unusual cycle because of it, and unless you end up not getting pregnant after we have ruled out literally every other thing I would not sweat it.
