    Folic acid, how much are you taking ?

    Hi all, I know 2000mcg folic acid is advised when swaying blue, does it need to be 2000? Mine are the recommended 400 per tablet so taking 5 of these a day is freaking me out a bit 🙈. Are we all taking 2000? I know I shouldn’t google but I came across articles saying excessive amounts of folic acid is linked to increased risk of autism. I know it’s individual choice on what we do to sway blue so was just wondering how everyone else feels about it x

    I took 2000 mcg folate while swaying (I swayed pink). It's what Atomic recommended to me after I had a couple of losses. I've never heard of a link between autism and folic acid. Where did you read that? Frankly a lot of people out there claim that this and that cause autism in an effort to find someone/something to blame.

    I know I agree, nothings safe theses days according to google ! There are a few articles on it if you have a wee search, here is a telegraph article on it:

    I remember reading that article. What’s annoying is that it doesn’t tell us what is “too much” folic acid or b12. So, it’s not clear if these women actually took way too much or they were taking normal amounts and their body somehow stored high levels of the vitamins.

    I know the study you’re referring to and it’s high amounts of Folic Acid for mother’s that have MTHR, which is the disorder of breaking down and using Folic Acid. These women need Folate instead. For the general population, Folic Acid is fine in any amount. If you have the disorder, taking high amounts of Folic Acid only stay unusable in your body, which can cause a problem.

    How misleading �� so does everyone take 2000mcg for blue sway? I’m gonna go for it �� will be ttc in my next cycle so if I can fit in the 5 a day from now I’ll at least feel I’ve done everything I could for the sway. With both my kids (one girl one boy) I only ever took 400mcg so it’s just the fear of change and going over the norms I think x

    Interesting! I've only started taking 800mcg of folate and there's 300mcg in the daily multi vit. Atomic had recommended 1200mcg daily for me. Wonder if I should up the amount?

    Yes dreamingrainbow, atomic’s min recommended supps for blue sway are:

    multivits
    500 mg fish oil
    Vit D 1000 Iu
    Folic acid or folate to 2000 mcg

    As far as I’m reading tho the boy swayers all take a min 2000 mcg and say you can’t overdose or anything with it as you ‘pee out’ any excess
