    Folic Acid, Follate and Diet before pink sway

    Does Follate sway blue or pink? Or does it not make a difference?
    And could I take both Follate and Folic acid at the same time

    I came across a healthy diet** which I’m applying now (only a little, not following this to the dot at all) but I thought of having this diet as my life style and then stop 3 months before TTC so I can do the pink sway diet then, is that OK from a pink csway perspective?

    Only doing this diet now as it helps me lose weight and still keep my sanity, especially good when I was breastfeeding. Still 8 kilos to lose to reach prepregnancy weight and I’m losing my weight slowly ...

    ** it’s a more blue diet as it has more fat, more protein less carbs and less/no sugar (uses stevia instead) I’m not mentioning the diet name as my last reply to a previous thread was blocked pending administrator’s approval, a first for me and I thought this may be the reason �� Apologies if that get posted eventually for a duplication of post...

    Folate/Folic doesn't sway and you need it if you're TTC. Do not take both folate and folic acid. Folate is just the broken down form of folic acid that for some people is easier to absorb. IMO folate is better just in case you're one of those that cannot convert folic to folate. I think it's fine to eat however you want for now since you're nursing and not going to TTC for a bit.

    sometimes posts just need to be approved for some glitchy reason we don't know why. I doubt it had anything to do with the link as people post links all the time, just coincidence

    Do whatever you need to do for now, that is fine. 12 weeks on sway diet is all you need regardless of what you did before that.

    we don't know if folic/folate sway but it doesn't matter since it's the only thing ever proven to prevent birth defects when taken prior to conception.

    unless you have MTHFR it is fine to take both. If you do have the MTHFR mutation, no folic acid, only folate. Folate is better but is more expensive.

    Thanks s lot Atomic, I am not sure about the MTHFR mutation, how can I know?
    Also if I did take only Follate, is this enough anyways to make up for the Folic Acid and sothe latter is not really needed?

    You have to be tested for it. If you have had few/no miscarraiges it is unlikely you have it, but folate is generally better anyway so when in doubt, I would use folate.

    Yes folate is simply a different version of folic acid so they are interchangeable.
