Hi All,
I was doing some reading and I stumbled upon a blog from a girl who has PCOS and could not get pregnant. Long story short she worked with a Doctor that is a Chiropractor and he did some sort of "Corrective care" on her. They were saying that the alignment of the spine can have a lot to do with fertility in regards to the thyroid gland and neurotransmitters etc. She went from long weird cycles and not ovulating to having regular cycles and ovulating and within 6 months she was able to get pregnant. Im not saying this is some sort of an answer for everyone but Im curious to know if anyone has ever heard of it and weather or not its worth a try? Please let me know your thoughts. TIA!

With our first we were trying for almost a year and never got pregnant. I did start going to a chiropractor who specialized in fertility problems and got pregnant the following month. I also have pcos and weird long cycles so I really think it helped!

I don't know. I'm a skeptic when it comes to chiropractors but it's because there's really no science behind it. I don't see how it could actually help fertility and so I feel that the results may be anecdotal at best. I think a lot of times what happens is after a person is TTCing for awhile, they start eating healthier, maybe exercising, and just generally doing positive things for their health/fertility so they're able to get pregnant (which just so happens to coincide with them going to a chiropractor). Having said that, I've gone to a chiropractor before. I went to one for the last half of my pregnancy with DS2 to help with my horrible back pain (which it did help with!). I went to one with DS3 because I was hugely pregnant (nearly 42 weeks!!) and I was fed up. lol I went into labor a few days after getting adjusted. Do I think that's what triggered labor? No. Could it have possibly helped in some sort of way? Maybe but I was also way past my due date at that point so labor was likely imminent anyway.
Do I think you should try going to chiropractor and see how it goes? Sure why not, if you think it may help. I wouldn't put money on it but if it makes YOU feel better than that's what's important. I will say that my back and neck always felt amazing after getting adjusted!'12

I agree with you ksmom! Itās funny because the month we finally got pregnant with my first I had started going to see the chiropractor, but I kind of gave up that month. I even scheduled an appointment with an RE to get the infertility ball rolling. Iāve heard so many times that when you stop ātryingā it will finally happen. Maybe thatās what happened with us? I had zero stress that month and wasnāt really even worrying about ttc. Maybe that helped us too
With things like chiropractors and no research to back it up itās hard to know what finally does the trick with someone.
I have had 2 babies since then and got pregnant fairly quickly with them without the help of a chiropractor.

Chiropractors help with back pain. That's the only thing I've ever read any convincing data that they can do.
In 6 months anything can happen. She probably changed her diet and exercise and took supplements and all sorts of stuff.
It doesn't prove the chiropractor actually did anything.
I have a terrible time with people being told insane things by chiropractors, being pressured into taking all sorts of herbs and megadose vitamins, and they get worse, and worse, and worse. I have to fight tooth and nail to get them off the stuff the chiropractor was giving them not only to get pregnant but just for their overall general health.!!! I do want to reiterate what ks said on two fronts:
I do think they're helpful for back and neck issues and I also went to one a couple times during pregnancy and it was great.
And I also think that there is something very, very, real and tangible about having a feeling like you are being cared for. It's the same with acupuncture...that you're just lying there for a few minutes and someone is doing something for you that makes you feel like you're benefitting somehow, can possibly help more than we realize. But it's not necessarily whatever it is that they do, it's some psychic/spiritual benefit that we don't understand. I suspect you could get the same result from a facial or a massage - just a moment in the day, once or twice a week, to stop for a moment and just have another person take care of things even just temporarily - it may really help.
So many of us - and swaying very well may exacerbate this - have so much pressure on us all the time and our bodies do take note of that. No one's body "wants" to get pregannt in a situation where it feels like you have no one to take care of you (almost like a grooming thing!! primate brain!!) If you think it can help and you can afford it, give it a whirl, but it's just that I personally don't buy into the idea that it's really doing what they say it's doing.!!! I had a little difficulty getting pregnant with my first baby as well. It took almost a year which is technically a normal amount of time but I was only 23/24 at the time with no fertility issues on either my part or my DH's so you'd think it would have happened sooner. The month I did finally get pregnant, I relaxed so much. I stopped charting, I cut out caffeine, DH started taking vitamins, and we upped the amount of BDing. I think that's typical of couples when TTC: it goes on for awhile so they get frustrated and start doing everything under the sun they can think of to conceive and then bam! it happens. We've had no trouble conceiving since then so go figure!

Thanks ladies. I figured it was a little to good to be true. I donāt really have the money to spend on that sort of thing which is why I wanted to se what you all thought. Iāve gotten to the point where Iāll look for anything that can help get me pregnant.
