Hi I'm new here. I am swaying for my first child, and if a girl, probably my last.
Our first attempt was two weeks ago but I think my cycle will start again tomorrow so I am rethinking my sway plan. Last time, I had H (age 39) abstain for 13-14 days till O and then tried O+12 using CBFM. I had trouble reading my cm ph but I wanted to make it as low and dry as possible so during the day before dtd (at night) I took 2 sudafed every 4 hours starting at 10am till 10pm. I was super dry but we used alot of sylk and I inserted a little replens just before and after to keep ph down. His release was really shallow and I'm not sure it got far in me because when when I got up after it pretty much slipped out immediately (H ph was 7-8 when I checked it). Then when I tried to check my ph half-hour later I couldn't even get the paper wet enough to get a reading so I'm guessing the sperm did not get very far in my system if they were even still alive from the abstaining. We were both taking supps - cal (1200-1500), mag (250), cran (1200) - and cut out red meat and heavy potassium and sodium foods. I'm underweight and don't eat alot in general but I have to be careful cuz I will stop Oing if I lose a few lbs.
So this time, I want H to do FR (alone) for at least 7 days thru O then try O+12 again with slightly deeper release. From my research, it seems like cut-off is more boy territory and I'm willing to risk trying on O day. I think I still want to use sylk and sudafed, but not sure about replens.
Thanks for any help!

I think you're making a sensible decision to FR. With abstaining in men over 35, it can increase the risk of some birth defects.
Have you been doing the diet?
Personally I'd DTD as close to OV as you can if you want to get pregnant fast. I don't believe timing sways at all and O+12 can be risky because it's much much harder to conceive with it and if you time it wrong you could miss your window of opportunity completely as the egg would be dead before the sperm reach it/have time to fertilise it.
If you want to release shallow and are doing loads of other things that lower sperm count you might need to have more than one attempt to make sure enough get there, although some women aren't comfortable with that.

I agree with rainbow - some people are lucky and get pregnant by swaying hard and DTD once and including timing but I think in lots of cases if you're doing a lot of other things then you either need to forget about timing and DTD once at the time you're most likely to get pregnant or DTD more than once with a cut-off and/or O+12, depending what you're most comfortable with.
As you need to get pregnant ASAP before you lose too much weight (and if you're sticking with one attempt at O+12), it's probably a good idea to tone down some of the other stuff - go easy on the Sylk and drop the Replens at least after DTD and if not before. I agree that dropping the shallow release might be a good idea as well.2005

Thank you! Should we try on the day I get my first lh peak reading? I was thinking of trying the evening after for O+12 and maybe use some sylk but not replens and leaving it at lowered sperm count + little sylk + dtd near/after O.
I am not hard-core on the girl diet as I am a really picky eater. I might already be on a low everything diet by default. During the week, I usually eat 2 fresh choc chip cookies from a bakery in the morning at work, then have a med/lg late lunch (buying either turkey sandwich w/doritios or bean&cheese burrito or pasta w/ tomato sauce and cheese) then a regular coke at night. On the weekends, I only eat one large meal in the late afternoon. I don't like salt so I never add it, but I don't know how much is in the foods I buy since I don't make my own meals. I try adding in nonfat greek yogurt here and there but it's not really satisfying.

If you're only eating one meal and a couple of cookies each day, along with diet coke, then that's certainly not a bad position to be in diet-wise! It's best to keep protein low and those of us on the LE diet go vegetarian but as you're not having another meal you may very well be within the limits of the diet anyhow (around 40g each day).
I think DTD at first +OPK is good if DTD on O is of concern to you, but otherwise DTD the day after +OPK sounds good too!2005

I really think that with all that was going on, there was pretty much nothing there to make a baby with.
with giving up abstain and the Sylk already DOES the exact same thing as Replens, no need to use both. Have you looked into RepHresh at all??http://genderdreaming.com/forum/show...s-and-RepHresh
Personally, for anyone over 35, I think O+12 (esp in concert with all that other stuff) will not get you pg. Eggs just don't live long enough after O and the older we get, the less time our eggs tend to live. I would much rather see you DTD once at pos OPK (or even more than once, but I understand if you're not willing to do that just yet.)
If you have little to no CM, then you should not do shallow release. There's nothing to help the sperm survive to make it into the cervix where they have a fighting chance. The EWCM/semen is like a little life raft that helps them make it to safety, otehrwise they just stay in the VJ and die. I personally like antihistamine better than Sudafed but if you're sold on Sudafed, then I think it's best for you to give up the shallow release.!!! Not a bad diet at all and since this is your first child and you don't even know if you're "set" for one gender vs. another, I am reluctant to have you change much. I do think that skipping the Doritos can't hurt and might help and would be "painless" but as for the rest of it, I would simply carry on. If you had had 7 boys eating that diet there would be things I could tweak but unless you're interested, I won't.
