I was on mu u/s scan 2 day in a row because first time tech couldn't see nasal bone ( could be an indicator of Down syndrome) so I freaked out. Yesterday he saw it ( on one pic you can see it) but I'm not relieved completely
My ob/gyn is all about amniocentesis and she is pushing me to go for it due to my age but I really don't want to. Plus they charged an arm and a leg for
Yesterday I've had my blood work done for double test ( Hcg and PAPPA) and we'll see results....
Anyway, (stupid) u/stech asked me do I have any kids, so I said ,yeah, 2 girls, and he went on how I must be hoping for a boy now, right? I said NO, of course ( big fat liar
) and THEN he said, in a very happy tone: Oh, but it looks like you're having another girll!" I wanted to tell him he better concentrate on nasal bone instead of annoying me, but I said: Oh, OK!"
So is this the flattest nub in the history of nubs? Or is there any nub on those pics at all? Scull specialists? ( Is that really a nasal bone on second pic? Sorry, but I'm freaking out!)

Sweetie, don't let them push you into ANYTHING! It's your body and your baby! I've heard those amnio tests can come out positive and absolutely nothing is wrong, and it sends the parents into a world of worry.
That US tech sounds like a JERK too! Ugh! I wanna smack him!

Sorry you´re worried ZB. The tech saw the nasal bone the second day right? so you don´t have to worry about that now.
How far along are you, maybe it was early and the nub will still rise (if it is flat now, I don´t know).
If the double test comes back with high risk (I sure hope it won´t) do you then still have to pay for the amnio ?
If you´re really worried I would do the amnio, could take away all your worries. I completely changed my mind about this, with my first two I didn´t do any tests and would have been happy to have a Down´s baby, but this time I worried a lot about it too so I know how you feel.

Hiya ZB
I would stick to your gut feeling and not have the amnio if it worries you as it looks like the nose bone is showing by the crosses in pic 1
And they would have made a big deal if they still hadn't seen it. Plus without your figures from your bloods they shouldn't panic you about that. And your actual nuchal fold at the bottom of babies neck looks perfectly small and thats what the scan is about really!!
As for a nub, I am completely not seeing any nub at all on either of your pics. Do you have any other pics or any video to post??? Your pics look slightly elongated aswell so are making the head shot (which I would lean boy on atm) slightly inaccurate aswell.
Have they booked you any more scans????

I actually think something is wrong with their ultrasound machine that is making both the skull and the nub look overly flat. I think everything just looks overly stretched out. Plus, at barely 12 weeks I really am not convinced that they can tell much reliably. My doc's office won't even guess at 14 weeks!!!
for a healthy baby above all else!!!

The skull shape looks boyish but I think it's the way the picture is. Can't see a clear nub. Hard to pick up a boy or girl feeling but your baby is upset about either the talk of Down's or being called a girl, not sure. Your baby is just not happy!
