    Digital opks vs opk strips

    Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to fall pregnant for the last 3 months but have been unsuccessful and it was only this month where I made some changes, one of which was getting digital opks. Previously I had used the opk strips and I found them difficult to read and hard to understand if in fact I was truly ovulating.

Long story short, this month I decided to go pick up digital opks because I had a gut feeling I was going to ovulate. The opk strips were not has darj. Unfortunately I didn't pick up the digital opk until CD14 and I tested right away and I got the solid smiley face right so hubby and I d2d last night. I checked today afternoon and it's still a solid smiley face.

Because I only tested CD14, I wonder whether I would have gotten a smile face on CD13 or earlier. I am sticking with one attempt but am hoping I didn't screw myself over. How long does the solid smily face last for? and Is it possible I could have gotten a solid face prior to CD14 and have now messed up

I should mention I did a opk strip and that now is positive! It's almost as though it should have don this yesterday when I got the solid smiley face on digital. Ahh which to believe LOL

There's just no way to know.

But you're in with an attempt no matter what, all is well, worst that can happen is that you don't get pregnant this month. If you're worried that you may have attempted on O Day and your sway is wrecked because of that, timing does not sway, it's totally been debunked as fully as it is possible for something in science to BE debunked, and scientists have proven 50-50 boys and girls conceived with sex on any given day in the fertile window.

I would probalby have you go on to e4d after another month or so (like, if you wanted to try one attempt next month with the digi OPK that makes sense but it's getting to be that time for e4d)

Thanks Atomic! I'll probably do that. It's day three since my attempt and I still for a solid smiley on the clearblue Digi..is this normal? What to do if you have a long surge? Thanks!!

Not an expert but chiming in.

I used digital OPKs to learn about my cycle and I discovered according to them I have a long surge. That's not abnormal I've been told. Some women have a quick surge some have a longer surge.

A couple mistakes I was making:
    1) using first morning urine at times
    2) not testing at the same time of day

I switched to strips to see the surge difference. I find them helpful for that. You can sort of see how much LH is present. So my strip might go first positive early but then it steadily darkens. For me, I can't use first positive OPK because of the length of my surge. I also have to use other signs like CM and CP to kind of learn my cycle/ovulation. I do e4d but I also have to add in an attempt at opk+ depending on how recently we dtd.

    Hi

So I got a negative on the Digi opk this morning..that means I had three solid days of solid smiley face. I'm assuming when the surge was coming down it still captures it? I also did a regular opk strip and that came back as positive..so confused what to make of this

It's not unusual. It means either it took your body a little longer than average to ovulate or that it's just taking longer for it to clear the surge hormone. In that case, wait 4 days and have another attempt.

Yes when the surge is coming out of your system the OPK can still detect it. Most people will still O counting from the FIRST OPK, not the last one, not the darkest one, regardless of how long it takes the strip to go negative.

Some are more sensitive than others and some of them are just straight up haunted, LOL.

Just go off the first positive of any brand, but if you have any doubts, then be prepared to have another attempt 4 days after the first attempt.
