Hi atomic,
E4D question
If we dtd CD6 and then CD10 and I get a temp dip on CD11, would we still have another attempt on the evening of CD11? That would be boy territory right?
Thank you!

E4D plus one attempt at pos opk

Yes, you'd still have attempt (for the e4d plus one, I"m assuming)
Timing doesn't sway. It doesn't work. There is no boy territory. When scientists used modern technology to pin down day of ovulation accurately, they found 50-50 boys and girls conceived every cycle day. So if that's the basis of your concern I would try to get past that because it's going to boost your chance of conception to get that additional attempt in there.!!! Thanks! I don't believe in timing at all. I was concerned if we did the deed cd 6 and 10 and then opk was positive cd 11, it would translate to 2 attempts in fertile window. So then that would not be ideal for a girl. Am I missing a piece of the puzzle here? I feel like I am.

No. No way would that be 2 attempts. Not only would CD 6 be too soon for a CD 11 O, but CD 6 is not even in the fertile window anyway meaning that all sperm would die in pretty short order.
Attempts only count in the fertile window (you're making EWCM so they can stay alive in the cervical crypts) and only within 3/4 days of ovulation.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Right, but if you do CD6 and then CD10 and THEN have a positive opk at CD11, if you DTD CD11 then it is considered two attempts (CD 10, CD 11) right? That is what I am trying to wrap my head around because I typically ovulated CD 11/12 BUT as you always say, you can't assume based on last month or any other month for that matter.

Oh I see my confusion - the title says e4d plus one but then your question in the body of the message says e4d.
If you are doing e4d plus one, YES you would have attempt CD 10 and 11.
If e4d, you would have attempt CD 10 OR CD 11, not both
Yes, CD 10 and 11 is two attempts but that's why e4d plus one boosts chances of conception. It may be a bit more blue friendly but it is better for getting pregnant.
Based on our results in the early days of the site (it was sometimes easier to spot strong trends during that time) one attempt is more pink friendly than 2. But 2 attempts was always better than 50-50 and today, it's nearly as high as one attempt (now granted I think this is because people do one attempt when they haven't beenn on diet that long, and only go to two after some time swaying) So you aren't killing your sway by doing 2 attempts if it's time to boost odds of conception.!!! Sorry for the confusion! I was just not fully getting the suggestions I see to do "e4d plus an attempt at opk+" because opk+ could fall too close to one of the e4d attempts and then be considered two in the fertile window. I will try to time the start of e4d so that one of the e4d attempts is when I expect positive opk. Thanks so much!

Yes, but just to make sure we're totally clear here, we WANT there to be 2 attempts in e4d plus one - to boost odds of conception. That's what we're going for with the e4d plus one.
You should not try to time when to do e4d attempts to coincide with when you expect pos OPK. Because not only might you be wrong, but you don't even know that pos OPK is the best day for YOU to conceive on. Part of the reason why e4d works is becuase it introduces an element of chance into the mix. Like let's say trying at pos OPK for Brenda is actually a day too late for best chance of conception, and for Sally it's a day too early...if they went on trying forever at positive OPK they'd literally never have a good chance of getting pregnant and it may take them both a really long time. But instead, they start e4d the day after their period and then through sheer random chance end up with an attempt that actually falls perfectly on the day that is best for THEM to conceive on even if it isn't pos OPK day!!! It just helps us not to outwit ourselves by having the attempt on the same cycle day month after month after month even when that may not be the best day for us.!!!
