Mommyduke - your sodium is still within the limits, but you haven't had enough calories. If you avoid prepared foods like that Lean Cuisine pizza you'll have a much easier time keeping within your limits and still getting enough calories. I've been known to make a salt free pizza dough to make my own pizza at home. Add some low sodium sauce, veggies and not too much cheese and it can work quite well within the diet. I also sometimes make them on a pita to save the step of making my own crust - at less than 200mg of sodium, 1 9" pita pizza can fill me up with lots of sodium to spare.
I tend to eat a lot of pasta because it's an easy way to fill you up and add calories. One serving of pasta is usually about 300 calories, 10g of protein and no sodium - top it with some unsalted butter and parmesan and you're good to go. You can also get quite creative with sauces and veggies to add flavour.

Here's my day:
7am: coffee
12pm: rice with 2 tbsp yogurt, 1 cup baby spinach and balsamic vinegar + 2 sugar free cookies
5pm: 1.5 servings pasta with (you guessed it) mushrooms, leeks and zucchini + creme fraiche. I also added 1 tbsp of some sodium-free homemade pesto leftover from my summer swaying (I made a big batch and froze it) just to add some different flavour. + orange sherbet for dessert
8:30pm: green grapes, 1/2 serving low fat salt & vinegar chips, Mike & Ikes
Calories: 1483
Protein: 40g
Sodium: 535mg (even WITH the chips!)
I think I'm going to have something completely different for supper tomorrow - as yummy as it is, I'm starting to get bored of the same thing every night. I have the stuff to make girl-friendly quesadillas or pita pizzas. I might even make vegetarian lasagna if I'm feeling ambitious.

Ohh today was a bad day...
Breakfast- peppermint tea
Lunch- 1 1/2 slices of low calorie/low salt white bread with sugar free strawberry jam, french fries with a table spoon of ketchup, and a few salt free chips with salsa. glass of sugar free strawberry milk.
Dinner- Mashed potatoes with light sour cream and pepper and 7 baby carrots.
Other drinks- crystal light, bottled water, diet caff free coke, more peppermint tea, and cranberry juice.
around 700 calories, 850 mg of sodium, and 25 g protein
I have SUUUUCH a hard time doing the diet. I would rather starve than eat nothing but strawberries and yogurt all day. It's much easier for me to not eat and drink more and to be able to have some of the stuff that I like and not go over what I shouldn't.Last edited by Coccinelle33; December 4th, 2011 at 08:35 PM.

mommy*duke - are you doing the IG diet or LE? On the LE diet you can eat pretty much anything as long as you stay within the guidelines of low fat, 40g protein, 700-1000 mg sodium and 1500-1800 calories. I'm really worried about you eating so little - you were below the limits for everything so you could definitely have eaten more food today!

Well I guess im doing the LE diet. I try to sick to the French diet and the IG diet but also try to keep everything low but the days that I go extra low are the days i've ate something "bad" to make up for it. I have felt pretty awful lately though. I always feel like i've ate to much though and I try to skip breakfast and not eat late so that doesn't leave a lot of time to make up for it. I feel full from 12-5 because of lunch and dinner and then all the drinks. I start to get hungry again late at night but try and go for another drink or 2 to fill me up so im not eating so late.

I didn't have a great day. After weeks of averaging 500mg of sodium, it crept up on me today and ended up over the limit. I also went over on protein - it was all the extra cheese I ate. Oh well, my supper was so yummy it was worth it!
7am: coffee
12pm: 1 cup rice with 2 tbsp yogurt, ginger cookie
5pm: 1 1/2 pizzas made on pita with low sodium sauce, yellow pepper, portobello mushrooms and mozzarella. I could have been good and used only one or two servings of mozzarella, but I used 3 servings. I also could have been good and eaten only one pizza, but it was so good I ate half of another one too!+ I had two Peek Freans Lifestyles cookies for dessert
8:30: raspberries, Sour Patch Kids
Calories: 1508
Protein: 47.5g (but 7g of that was from fruit and veggies, so technically I'm still ok)
Sodium: 1244mg

Maybe try eating pasta? It's an easy way to add up your calories and it has the added bonus of filling you up and being quite tasty. On the LE diet you can eat tomato sauce, or you could try butter and parmesan, pureed butternut squash or any other low sodium low protein sauce you can think of. Add lots of veggies to it and it becomes even more filling.

that's not too bad! don't be so hard on yourself!
my day yesterday:
bfast:
2 slice challah with lite butter, mini bagel with whipped creamed cream cheese and sugar free jelly, 2 corn cakes, pep tea
lunch:
frozen yougurt w/ 4 raspberries, 2 cups air popped pop corn
dinner:
pasta w/ lite butter and parmesean iceburg lettuce salad w/cucumbers, vinegrette dressing, 2 pieces licorice, 1 creamsicle, 4 chocolate covered blueberries, an empty ice cream cone.
didn't totally count calories, and I always just eyeball the other stuff.
So question for you all-my period just started, yay!! I am down to 94.5 this morning, should I start to skip breakfast or keep eating it? what would you do? thanks!
