So I have read a few studies that suggest it's easier to lose weight if you eat breakfast. But I am ot sure if that's because people who tend to eat breakfast eat fewer calories throughout the day or if it has something to do with keeping your blood sugar up.
I know we want to keep our blood sugar low around O and especially in the 2WW as female blastocysts like that low glucose environment, but it is also important to lose weight. I wonder if eating a light breakfast--say a piece of toast and a yoplait light--would help you lose weight and then as you get near your attempt and in the 2WW you could skip breakfast.
Thoughts anyone?

I've always eaten breakfast and have successfully lost weight whilst eating breakfast and I too have read those studies (or at least heard the theory!) but I managed to lose weight just as easily (if not more so) by skipping breakfast.
I wonder if it's something to do with kick starting your metabolism in the mornings? I did find it helpful to zig-zag my calories so I wasn't having the same every day - more some days and less on others but averaging out over the course of the week - because that keeps your body second guessing.2005

Actually those studies aren't really saying it's easier to lose weight if you eat breakfast per se, it's that people who eat breakfast tend to have an easier time losing weight than those who don't. People who skip breakfast for dieting also tend to be crash dieters in other ways and when you cut back too far, you a) ~may~ mess up your metabolism in the long term and b) tend to get obsessed with food and end up bingeing.
As long as you are eating less than your body uses, you WILL lose weight. Regardless of what you are eating or in what pattern. To me, it's a little bit overthinking things, to be concerned that not eating breakfast will keep you from losing weight. I promise that IT WON'T if you are eating less cals than your body uses.
I don't really necessarily want people to lose weight too easily ANYWAY, you know?? Some people only have a few lbs to spare and we kinda WANT your metabolism to drop a bit so you can get by on 1500-1800 cals for as long as it takes you to get pg. We WANT your weight to plateau on 1500-1800 cals so you lose a few pounds and then stop losing!!
The LE Diet is designed to be a diet you can LIVE on rather than starving miserably and frantically praying for yoru BFP every month. Your body WILL adjust to skipping breakfast, millions of people do it every single day around the world.
Like Zana, I have lost weight before both while eating breakfast and not eating breakfast and personally for me it is MUCH easier when I DON'T eat breakfast. Firstly because after a week or two of not eating breakfast, your body gets used to it and you're eating a third less cals than normal. Secondly because, when you eat something, anything, your blood sugar will rise and then eventually drop and this creates HUNGER. So eating in the morning when I am trying to lose weight, often puts me into a cycle where I have a blood sugar crash, am starving, have no willpower, eat way too much, and this continued all day long and so I don't lose any weight at all. I found that the Yoplait light was the WORST for that for some reason. It didn't tide me over at ALL and I was starving again in no time.
For anyone who is concerned about "ruining their metabolism" I just want you to know that pregnancy and breastfeeding is like a big reset button for the metabolism (scientifically proven). When you BF a baby, hormones are created that actually will help you lose weight once the baby reaches a certain age.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

I read an article that said that those who skip breakfast often tend to binge at the end of the day out of hunger, so end up eating more calories overall during the day

When I read studies saying eating breakfast helps you lose weight I assumed it was because it kept them from eating too much later, but we TTC pink ladies are so worried about cals on the LE diet that I didn't think that would affect us. It was really really really hard for me to skip breakfast the first 3-4 days, but now I don't even start to get hungry until about noon, and often I have to remind myself to eat, I just never feel hungry anymore, which is strange....

Thank goodness for that! I've gotta tell you I piled on the pounds in the couple of months I was pregnant - 13 lbs - 10 of those in the first month. I wasn't eating like a glutton at all (except on a day here and there
) but I think my body was just used to less food. It's good to know that once I finally have a baby and start nursing my metabolism will go back to normal...even if I'll probably be a big cow throughout the pregnancy!

Mocha, I gained 70+ pounds with DS 4 after being on the LE diet (beta version) and I dropped it all SO easily. It was actually my easiest weight loss by far.
PS - I don't think it was the LE Diet that made me gain so much weight, I had two placentas so my body thought I was carrying twins or something!!!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

No matter how hard I try I can't skip the breakfast! I think I actually will faint. I can some days make it to about 10, but I have to really hold it together. I have been tested for blood sugar levels and they are low, so I guess that is why. Oh well, what can a girl do? At least I am eating less often than before, I am eating about 3 times a day now, I used to eat about 8-9 times a day before!
I am so impressed by all you ladies, you rock!

Yes, I gained 75lbs with my twins, and the weight melted off while I was BFing them. It's the best weight-loss plan there is, isn't it?
