In Canada, with a 'normal' pregnancy, scans are covered by our government-funded medicare for 11 weeks and 20 weeks. It's entirely possible if you're under the care of an OB you can request more scans than that, and I know for sure that high risk pregnancies get more scans than that. With my twins, after my first 11 week scan when I found out there were two babies, they started scanning me every week to keep an eye on them. If I'd known I had twins earlier than that I'm sure they would have given me early scans as well.
Since I use a midwife, the general procedure is - call them when you get pregnant to book your first appointment for about 10 weeks. Then you just sit and wait and hope that things are ok. When you finally meet with them, they book your 11 week NT scan if you want one. Since I'd never had a m/c before now, the 10 week wait was frustrating, but not scary. This time things will be different. Again, if I had an OB maybe I could request an earlier scan, but a midwife doesn't even meet and talk to you until you're 10 weeks along. Since my non-OB family doctor is taking such an interest in my case, though, he might be willing to requisition an early u/s after I get my BFP if I tell him how nervous I am. He's kind of clueless in the world of obstetrics and does whatever I ask of him!![]()

that's a lot like it is here then the NHS fund the basics; a dating scan (11-13 weeks) then a scan to check for anomolys at 20 weeks. If you have pregnancy/growth issues, suspected ectopic or MC, multiples, or have had multiple MCs you get additional scans... but it's not common and they offer them reluctantly. We also book in with a MW at around 8 weeks and they sort out the scan.
there are private clinics here, though, where you can pay for additional scans on your own. You still get your normal NHS scans on top and it's all separate. I booked an early reassurance scan with my first pregnancy, they did it at 9 weeks and we paid £60. That pregnancy didn't end well, but it was still nice to have the scan and keep the pictures (treasure them now). Perhaps if you do want an early scan to check for a heartbeat it's an option for you to get that privately?

We only have one local private u/s place, and they're the ones that say that 'soon' they'll offer diagnostic scans, but they don't offer them yet. I'll just hope they implement them on time for me!

And Jen, if I tell my husband we have to have sex lots because I'll be ovulating, his penis will droop so low he won't be able to get it up for another month! LOL
I'll just have to keep seducing him and I guess act like I can't get enough of him so that's why I have to keep "having him" and all that mumbo jumbo...geez, I'll have to pull out the best acting job I can, LOL.

Hi girls,
Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the rephresh and frequent bding vs release.
We are out this month...I am on cd 4.
We tried 0-2,0-1 and o with frequent compressed release before and rephresh.
Nothing!
What should I drop?
rephresh?
FR?
Also, how many times shld we bd?
I am so confused! I really thought it would happen by now!
aurora? out of the blue? maybeoneday?
What are your sway plans? If you are not BFP!

lemon - I replied to your PM as well, but I think if you want to change things up and drop one thing I'd drop the rephresh. Either that or use way less of it. As I said, I wasn't able to get pregnant until I dropped it, though I may use just a teeny amount this time so I don't have any regrets for having a bad sway.

Yeah, I'm seriously contempating dropping it as I think I'm allergic to it and I'm almost 200% positive it prevented me from getting pregnant...sigh, but then I'll have the whole PH issue to deal with, as my ph is normally high 5's....not that I don't want another boy or wouldn't love him to pieces (I would totally love him, I already got his name picked out), but I was trying to tip the odds to favor girl sperm...I dunno anymore, part of me just wants my family complete, and the other part of me wants to do it "right" and do a proper "girl" sway so I won't have any regrets in the end....
BLAH!
