I'd definitely go with what the clearblue ones say, Jamie - my ICs never show a full positive before my clearblue does!

I posted on the TTC board, but thought I's ask here too since this thread gets a lot more traffic. I'm only CD9/10 and got a negative OPK today (a fairly dark line, but far from +), and my cm has JUST started to turn to EWCM as the day wore on. Normally I'd think this just means my body's just starting the process of readying itself for ovulation since that process normally starts for me around CD10...but I've been having strong af-like cramps today and I'm not sure if those could be a sign of imminent O. I normally get sharp cramps on my sides, not a dull ache in my lower abdomen like this. Anyone else have that at O time?

DH has only been doing frequent release for 5 days and I planned to have him do it 2 more days before we start dtd...but should I throw all that out now and dtd anyway just in case O is coming? I don't want to miss my egg, but in the past I've always had about4 days of EWCM before I O....

    Thanks so much!

I would say go with your instinct if you think you are going to ovulate. I'm not sure what your sway play is (if you are planning to do more than one attempt etc). If it were me I would DTD but maybe have DH release first but then again I'm not one doing a "perfect" sway more just what I called a "sway lite." I also am brand new to TTC so I'm sure some other ladies will have much better insight than I do.

Thanks, Jamie - I think I'm going to hold off for tonight since my OPK was definitely negative today, but I'll reassess tomorrow if it's looking more positive and maybe just have dh release once before we dtd. It wouldn't be the perfect 7 day FR, but it would be pretty close (6 + an extra release before dtd).

Sorry I'm not more help and ask more questions than i answer, you ladies just know so much more than I do.

I'm getting a little overwhelmed because in the past 9 days DH has released 7 times but of course one of the missed days was yesterday(this darn unexpected positive) the other was missed like day 3. And he does not seem to be into DTD at all today not that he won't but I don't know if I will be able to get him to release beforehand so I don't know what to do.

That's tough, Jamie - we've had lots of months like that in the past. My DH doesn't believe in swaying and gets a little bitter when I start making demands like having him release before dtd. If you don't think you can get him to do it, maybe you could use rephresh and antihistamines to try to keep his sperm count down. Would he be more willing to release first if you (ahem) helped him do it? That's the only way I can ever manage to get dh to release.

DH has been pretty great about all the swaying stuff but he just has not been feeling well today. Although he always talks as if it's absolutes like when I say something I'm doing to sway he will say "oh so if you do x we will have a girl?" he looks at it very black and white. He has only released once on his own, I normally "help" him but he did do it on his own today and we will DTD in a couple of hours so I think it has worked out. I still think I will do the benadryl and I used rephresh this afternoon but I really hope all of that is not overkill.

It sounds like a good attempt to me, Jamie! You're lucky dh is willing to go along with the swaying stuff - my dh thinks the whole thing is ridiculous and there's no way to get any better chance than 50%. He humours me, though, and only gently teases me when he sees me taking all my supps or eating my special diet.

Thanks! Yeah DH has been really good, I think because he remembers how strong he felt about wanting a boy with our first so he gets it in a way. For my birthday this year he gave me a charm necklace with our kids birthstones and initials on it and there was also a ballerina for the girl he said we will have. Although he does still tease me a little about some of the things I do. Like today when I was taping my OPKs to a paper and writing the cycle day beside them (yes I know I'm a nerd this is one of the first times in my life I haven't been either in school or studying for my CPA exam so I need something to be nerdy about).

I wanted to see what do you all think of this. I got the clear blue digital ovulation tests because in my last couple cycles I've had 3-4 days in a row with dark OPKs that all looked positive so I though a digital tests might eliminate some ambiguity. I decided to test with my cheap strips from the end of AF and start testing with the digital when the lines started getting darker. My strips started getting slightly darker but not enough to be confusing (still looked very negative) but I still decided to use the digital yesterday afternoon and it was positive (didn't use it in the morning). DH and I DTD last night but I really expected the digital and maybe even the strip as well to be positive this morning but neither were.

The reason I can't figure out what is going on and if I did ok with any sort of attempt is because this is not the normal pattern my cycle follow (of course). Even though my cycle is irregular I usually can tell with OPKs when I am about to O as they usually fade in. I was planning to DTD 2DBO, 1DBO, and on O but I'm wondering if O just surprised me this month. I was cramping slightly last night before we DTD but I'm just not sure now.

how strange! it does sound like it could have surprised you then. Lucky you tested when you did!
I had lots of pos OPKs in a row last cycle too and for the last 6 months have had a good fade-in pattern too, but not this cycle so far. Hmm
