atomic - advice on what to do in the months leading up to ttc

Hey everyone, please add your opinions too, the more the merrier! So I don't think I'm pegnant this cycle and it has made me re-evaluate. I want to give ttc a girl my best shot, I also want to do what's best for my family, and delaying ttc for another 2 to 3 cycles would be enough to make a big difference as DS1 starts school next september and want to give him the first few months extra mummy time. So after reading March onwards sways girl I think it makes sense to wait. What shall I do in the cycles before? Practice the diet but add on a few hundred cals (empty ones from soda) so when it comes to ttc I have a few pounds left to loose! I took s.palmetto this cycle and OH took l.root - shall we save those for the cycle before ttc? I have pcos so lowering testosterone is a big thing, I'm quite stressy and spotty since having the 2ww break from s.palmetto but wonder if I should give peppermint tea a go in the months before starting s.palmetto. Can u take both together or is that over-kill? My temps seemed a bit lower this cycle after starting the s.palmetto was hoping they would go up to reflect the testosterone lowering. I weigh about 8 stonne 2 right now and am 5ft 2 so not sure of bmi but prob. Want to keep the weight loss for the last 3 weeks before ovulation as I drop weight easily, I lost about 7 pounds over 2 weeks doing the girl diet so no that part is easy for me. Is there anyone else out there waiting till March who wants to be a waiting buddy and keep me in line :-)

Good idea about the diet, not only as practice but because the lower protein/fat will help lower your T and E levels over the course of time.

Yes, def. save LR and SP till closer to your cycle. You can do pep tea now Don't take them both together, just do the PT for now and then save the SP (big guns) for 6 weeks before yoru attempt.

Don't put too much stock into temps, not convinced they work the way some claim.

Cool, thanks for the reply, will grin and bear the p.tea, I didnt feel a great effect from the s.palmetto but then again I didnt feel that tense body when the kids annoyed me, the voice was cross but I didnt feel physically cross so maybe it did do something.
I will enjoy my xmas dinner and party food and then crack on with le diet - especially after reading how the sp could higher the cholesterol as I know when I was a teen they said lipid levels were high - how they didnt put the acne and high fat lipids but slim person all togher and realise PCOS I dont know!

Def. feeling March onwards would be giving it our best shot

A lot of doctors did not know about PCOS until quite recently and some are STILL in the dark about it.

With the cholesterol, the diet will help and also the fiber supp but since your lipids are higher to begin with, I would try to hit it hard and get pg quick. I won't tell you NOT to take the SP but just try to get pg fast, promise???

Promise lol, especially if we are seeing the fertility experts we will def. try to up our odds of pregnancy. I think that means dropping the replens/rephresh -Oh's ph was 7.3 so in a great range. Will still do abstinence and l.root but will probably dtd at a positive opk and not jump and dump. Does this sound right?

On a different note - do you know what would be causing the spot outbreaks after ovulation? Just wondered what hormone is causing this and why? Always seems to be a few days after ovulation.

Rainbowflower directed me to a great link about PCOS and possible over-ripe eggs and miscarriage etc. so I decided to def. go to my fertility appointment the end of Feb and start ttc with their guidance and in the meantime will go back on the metformin and try to eat wholegrain stuff. Falling pregnant quickly if starting in March is important because if I am at increased risk of miscarriage then I need to give myself plenty of time.
Im also thinking of asking the drs to do full hormone and lipid tests before I see the specialist so wont take any supps until the results come back and will run the s.palmetto past the drs first.

Zits after ovulation is totally normal and something a lot of people experience. Nothing to do with the PCOS.

Update us on what the docs say about SP if you think of it.

PS - Id expect a couple of zits, but I have like 8 around my chin and lower cheeks, just seems to be much worse, although have been having sugary stuff which would aggrivate the PCOS I guess.

Well remember tho, if you have PCOS you shouldn't do so much sugary stuff because it will backfire on you.
