Nothing like authentic Mexican food, but sooooo yummy compared to a lot of the other bland food I eat on this diet.
YUMMY!!! I am SO going to make that!

Ok, Day 1 at the in-laws. We didn't get here until supper, so today wasn't too bad:

    7am: coffee
12pm: thin, low sodium bagel with 1 tbsp low fat cream cheese, banana, shortbread cookie (I packed a lunch so I wouldn't eat the tempting airport fast food)
3pm: 1 twizzler (my kids were eating them as a treat on the plane and I couldn't resist)
6pm: 1 small piece meat lasagna, salad with a tiny drizzle of low fat caesar dressing, apple pie for dessert. I tried to take tiny portions, but I had to eat all the things that were offered to me. This is going to be a tough week.

When I estimated my intake, it didn't look terrible:

    Calories: 1180
Protein: 38g (I suspect it was way higher than that)
Sodium: 1671 - this is going to be very tough to control when I'm not in control of the food we eat. Luckily, I know atomic says sodium is the least important part of the sway. Still, I'd feel more comfortable if I had at least O'd....

Now I'm not only panicking about this cycle, but what if I don't get a BFP?? Is this week of eating crap going to ruin next month's cycle too?? I think of how much I've sacrificed to eat this diet going on 7 months now, and it's sooooo frustrating to have it all go to crap now just when it counts. When we planned this trip I was pregnant and was planning to make our big announcement here and enjoy eating everything in sight and getting nice and fat...and instead here I am quietly grieving a loss and trying to TTC with no privacy while eating the exact opposite food I should be.

Sorry for the pity party - I'm just feeling down today.

Jen - I've gotta ask. What's with the water? Is it a good thing to have lots of water during the 2WW? I just ask because when I dropped all the tea last 2WW, I didn't really replace it with anything else, and I doubt I had much to drink at all, honestly.

Oh, MJ... I'm so sorry you're stressing so much. You can only control what you can control. (i know...insert here, lol) I know it's easier said than done but you've got to just let go of what you cannot control. If you can, drink a fizzy drink or lots of water (warmish water works better for me) just before you sit down to eat to suppress your appetite. Use coffee too! One trick I've used is that I take a bit of food and spread it across the plate like it looks like a lot and then go back for seconds on some of the safer foods. If you can show you're going back for seconds (even if it's just salad), people will stop looking at what you eat so much. Also, you can even leave food on your plate (like meat stuff) when you go back for seconds b/c people probably won't notice that and instead just see that you're headed back for more. If someone notices you going back for more w/a big slab of meat still on your plate and you panic, you can always say something like, "Wow, this salad is really good!"...corny, I know but it's worked for me. Also taking seconds kind of gives you a bit of a free pass if you don't finish everything at the end of the meal. I've done this so many times and not just when I'm swaying...I've done it when people don't know I'm veg and I don't want to hurt their feelings after the fact. I know you know all this already...just trying to help I know this is a really hard time, especially if your so stressed, worried and down... I'm sending you TONS of &

BTW, there's nothing to my drinking that H2O in the 2ww...I've been drinking 2-4 C. of H2O upon waking for years and years so it's nothing new and just thought about it and added it to my food logging on here this last time.

Hoping your eggie hatched and there was a cute but mischievous waiting... ...

Well, today didn't turn out to be too bad a food day after all. I was worried all day because MIL was planning to make ham for supper, but I managed to avoid eating it by sitting at the kids' table away from prying eyes. Instead I ate all the vegetarian sides. My sodium's still a little high, but everything else is ok.

    7am: coffee
12pm: 1 slice white bread, toasted, with a tiny bit of low fat peanut butter, banana, 2 sugar cookies
5pm: 2 slices white bread with margarine, mashed sweet potatoes, a few veggies & dip, small serving of salad with a drizzle of salad dressing, sugar cookie

I haven't had my snack yet, but I did a grocery shop today and got lots of snacky stuff I can have, like Diet Pepsi, cookies that aren't full of sodium, stringable cheese, low fat cream cheese, hummus, grapes and more candy so I'll probably have some of that stuff. I'm also hoping to make a tastier lunch out of some of it tomorrow. I'm keeping all the groceries except for the refrigerated stuff in my room so as not to arouse suspicion (or have someone else eat all my precious girl-friendly food).

By my best estimates, here are my totals so far:

    Calories: 1125
    Protein: 27g
Sodium: 1157mg (I think it was the salad dressing that tipped me over the edge)

I find it interesting that I'm so low on protein even though that's what I usually struggle most with keeping down. I guess it's because I didn't have any pasta or cheese today.

I got an *almost* positive OPK about an hour ago, so I'm REALLY hoping O comes tomorrow. I haven't decided whether or not dh and I will dtd tonight. I suppose it depends on whether or not we have a kid sleeping in bed with us .

Hi girls.. I hope you don't mind me jumping in here but I just have to say you are all so amazing and dedicated to your diets!! Very impressed! I am also TTC a girl and am possibly due to ovulate in 2 days. I have no way been as good as you all counting calories, sodium and protein. I have pretty much cut down on everything and lost a few kilos in the last week. I have really cut out sodium as much as possible and am drinking more lots of diet coke and pepp tea. Getting a bit nervous about the diet at Christmas Day tomorrow but think I am just going to skip breakfast and eat a normal serving of Chrissy lunch (not over indulge as we tend to do at this time) whilst skipping as much sodium food as possible. Is hard when other ppl are making things though!! Good luck to you all and well done on your diet!!

Welcome, sallygal! I think we all need to eat a little something special on Christmas. Life can't stop because we're swaying! I'm planning to eat a bit of turkey, but I'll be very careful the rest of the day.

It's so quiet around here I'm sure I'm talking to myself today, but since I'm at the in-laws for Christmas, I'm left alone babysitting ds3 who's asleep, while dh, my older sons and his whole family have gone to a Christmas party. Merry Christmas to me .

Anyway, here's what I ate today - again, not too bad a day considering my situation:

    7am: coffee
12pm: English muffin with low fat cream cheese, 2 Peek Freans Lifestyle Cookies
5pm: salmon (I think I only ended up eating about 2 forkfuls - I managed to slip the rest on my ds's plate when no one was looking. Luckily he loves salmon so he was happy to get more), rice, green beans with olive oil and lemon juice, 1 dinner roll, chocolate cheesecake for dessert I know, I know - but it IS Christmas Eve, and I'm only human.
8:30pm: green grapes, Mike & Ikes, gingerbread man

Again, my totals are a bit of an estimate since I didn't cook the food myself, but I think it's something like:

    Calories: 1600
    Protein: 37
    Sodium: 1200

So, again sodium's a little high, but it could be waaaay worse. I've been lucking out with the meal situation so far. I've been eating in the kitchen with the kids while everyone else sits in the dining room, so it's easy to not eat everything on my plate.

I still haven't O'd, but it should happen anytime now. My OPKs are already getting lighter, so I'm praying my temp goes up tomorrow.

Merry Christmas, everyone! So far today I've lucked out foodwise. When my ILs sat down to eat breakfast, I ducked out to call my Mom to wise her a Merry Christmas. Lunch was casual - everyone was fending for themselves - so I found some leftover plain rice and mashed sweet potatoes in the fridge and ate those. Now I have plenty of room in my budget to enjoy a nice meal tonight almost guilt-free.
